I loved it when Danny came back second time. And I was about as upset with the club as I have ever been when they binned him off. And it is true that although the football was far from inspiring in the second spell, he took over a team that had relegation running through it like a stick of rock. He failed to keep that team up but it is hardly a verdict of Danny's management capabilities as Arsene Wenger wouldn't have kept that pile of dross up. And then he had the team dismantled because of relegation. Yes, we were bang average at best in L1 that year when he was binned but we have just spent all year this season bemoaning that Hecky had one hand tied behind his back, surely DW was working with similar shitty conditions. He brought in or identified some of the best players we have had in recent years for others to benefit from. It would certainly be left field if he came for round 3, and I would applaud his guts to do so. But it just seems implausable and perhaps would split the fanbase too much this time around. Unfairly perhaps in my opinion but there you go.
[QUOTE=GG said the shortlist would be drawn up over the weekend and interviews would take place this week. Where did it say that?
IMHO we could do a lot worse with Danny as Director of Football. Maybe GG is starting to realise that this role is needed?
Very fair assessment, my 3 relegations comment was more based round we got him in last time we were looking like going down. I have a feeling certain sections of the fans base won't be happy with the appointment when they realise we are shopping at the same levels for a head coach as we do for players. Or at least I expect we will be doing. Much like bringing in players it's a bit of a lottery.
The team that Danny took over was good enough to avoid relegation ,the fact they were crap before he came is irrelevant imo we had enough games to turn it round and he couldn’t inspire them as Flitcroft did when he took over.
Danny and Nicky.. mmmm .interesting....better still Danny and big Eric that would be an appointment lol....music.....i had a dream
In his interview on ifollow. Was a longer version than the one radio Sheffield play as other interviewers and journos ask questions too.
Wiseman, Perkins, Kennedy, M'Voto, Dawson, Mellis, Etuhu, Cywka, Jennings..... Then we had the transfer window where he had to release and pay off players to try and get others in with Mansford pulling his contacts. And that made it even worse. Proschwitz, Woods, Frimpong, Shea We had O'Grady trying his best (i still get cold sweats in the night with that left channel hoofball from Kennedy to O'Grady... O'Grady virtually sat as he shielded the ball just in front of ESL *shudders* It was beyond grim... interesting reading though, Birmingham finished just above the relegation places on 44 points and -16 goal diff.
Can't agree with that. The team that DW took over was total dog ****. I don't believe we had a snowballs chance in hell of staying up.
yes the team weren’t the best we’d ever had but the display against Leeds was piss takingly disgusting.
I'm not sure what Alex Ferguson or Bill Shankly could've done with that rabble. To expect them to morph into a world beating 11 for a game against Leeds is a bit over ambitious i'd have thought.
U You seem to be giving him s lot of credit for players that didn’t start performing till he’d gone . I seem to remember his motivation on lita and Treacy .
