It shows the value of time doesn't it. That playing players and developing them and teaching them can improve them. Danny started that, Johnson continued that, and the departed inherited that and played a part too. I don't see why we have to destroy everything and dismiss it as bad. Every manager, player, employee and fan, has made mistakes. Some more than others. I'm certainly not going to slaughter a manager who did something nobody ever has and then had the balls to come back, sort us out despite knowing we were nailed on for the drop and then started a bigger rebuild job than heckingbottom faced.

As much as many of us are angered by the departed, he had spells of good and gave us great memories at Wembley. I'm not sure he's as good a coach as we thought at the time, but i'm not going to throw away what was done in the second half of that season. Christ, we have enough bad times without being bitter about the good ones too.

As with most posts and threads every bodies opinion seems to invoke discussion and opinions which is what the boards about .
I didn’t slaughter Danny as you say I put a reason why I wouldn’t want him back as manager/hc .
After the Leeds game I wanted him gone
Wasn’t the dead fish eyes statement under Danny’s stewardship?

I wasn't inferring you were doing any slaughtering, just a generalism in putting my point across.

And yes, the dreadful dead eyed fish eyes story was under Danny. As i mentioned elsewhere, there was conflict between the two for sure in my view, and I'm sure Dannys version would be different.

But each to their own. We'll see what happens with interest

Lets hope it’s a signing to unite the fans not divide them as I think Danny’s would.
Although on my part I would give him my full support in the stands if he did come back as I did the second time even after the Leeds game

    It's a recipe for disaster.

One whose high-point was in 1997, and one who's shown no managerial aptitude at all.

All this talk of Danny....makes you think why he had the rug pulled from under him...PC sold us the plan we the fan base bought into it and were prepared to give it time suddenly Danny's gone we get the fish eye comment off Patrick followed later by
Rumours about Danny female relative and needing to spend time away from the game.also rumours of toe to toe arguments and major fall outs with a certain board member. something didn't add up ...would be nice to know what went off....Danny being the honest Guy he is hasn't said a word about his sacking as far has I know .... I for one don't think he got a fair crack of the whip second time around... also in my opinion I still believe Patrick didn't really want him back and only employed such was the clamour by the fans at the time... I also know for fact that Ben Mansford was as shocked as the rest of us with the sacking...and even went on record whilst speaking to radio Sheffield I think he said something on the lines of its come out of the blue..if memory serves me right

I'd have Danny back tomorrow not through sentiment I think his team's play attractive football when he's in charge ....i also remember at the time accusations laid at James cryne door were denied but then out came the spread sheet news...people were also saying james was having a huge influence selecting the who and now of the team ..too ..all which was denied....and yet it later emerged the spread sheet was greater than what had been let on ...the rest is history as they say ... but yeah Danny I'd be happy with that

I disagree. The first time he was here was a joy to watch where I looked forward to the games all week. The second time he was here bordered on mental abuse with how negative the tactics were, especially if we scored first. I’d offer him the job as head of recruitment in a heartbeat. As manager though, I’d rather peel my own skin off with a butter knife

This ^^ that defeat at the keepmoat was the most boring negative game of football I've ever seen. I was embarrassed that I'd seen a barnsley side go to Donny and set up for a draw from minute one http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/30758863
