Heard the same Redsfan. Totally unrealistic wage demands.! What's "do you like sex and travel" in French.? That's what he's probably been told. Wonder if he surfaces somewhere else in the future.?
I asked a French guy that once and ha said it didn't translate very well, they just used the English variation, but "Votre fait enculer" meant you're f.....
In the late 50's we ( England) agreed an educational exchange with France which saw orphans from the Frejus dam disaster coming over for a holiday to improve their English. I was on holiday and staying with family in Poole and they let us use their beachhut at Branksome Chine. It was there one sunny afternoon that I met up with three of the lads from France and we played on the beach and swam together for the best part of two weeks. One of the lads was staying with a family who had a voluptuous daughter. He was describing her to me. He pointed to the face and said " here she is fifteen" then pointed to his chest and said " but here she is half past nineteen." which made me laugh. After a few days together as young lads, the conversation got round to swear words in English and their French equivalents. They told me the " F" off word in French was " encadrer". I looked it up in my Collins French/English dictionary and it said " to frame, set or surround" which led me to believe that my new found mates were pulling my leg. The following day we were walking through the woods towards the path leading to the cliff top down to promenade level and we passed three guys who were talking in French. I decided to put my French vocabulary to the test. One of them nodded and said " bonjour". Rather foolishly I replied " encadrer". I quickly released that what I'd been told was correct, as three angry looking blokes turned tail and started chasing us through the woods. I'd been going down to Poole from being a toddler so I knew those woods like the back of my hand and because we were younger and a lot fitter after about a mile pursuit we managed to shake them off. So as you say Ade, it is difficult to translate but without knowing if " enculer" is an accurate translation, first hand I do know that " encadrer" seemed to have an effect.!
