25-30 SPL goals possible if this comes off. It'd be a very good signing for Rangers and I suppose for McBurnie too, at least as far as getting exposure and regular games and goals. If he's a Rangers fan as he is understood to be, it makes sense.
At 21 years old he’s a snip at just £4 million. McBurnie is going to score goals for years to come. At some point Barnsley will have to invest in young players like this - so why not now? It would be a very poor move for him to go to Scotland and join the Micky Mouse league.
We'd all love him to come here nudger and I agree that we are now a club with potential. But we're a division too low for his ambitions at the minute and he'll have plenty of offers as good as or better than we can make. Hope I'm wrong though.
Scoring for Rangers would put him on the map a lot more than scoring in league one. The standard may not be much different but the exposure would be.
Aye, he might do if he has taken notice of how many goals he scored and chances he created from left forward sitting high and wide on the opposition’s right back.
I was pretty sure he’d go there before Gerrard was appointed, suppose that only gives more reason for him to go. Although Swansea will be a team near the top of the championship next season so he could opt to stay there I guess. Whatever happens, he was never ever going to be here again. Be interesting to follow his career.
I reckon he will be offered better wages at Rangers. Plus his media coverage will enhance his Scotland international prospects.

Yeah I’d agree. Only thing going for the Swansea option is that if he has a season in the championship scoring 25+ goals then he could potentially be playing premier league football the year after. I agree Rangers is his more likely destination though.
Maybe at Rangers the fact playing him on the left ment the full back was totally exposed might not matter as much. Can't disagree he scored goals from that role though.
Rangers do not have 4 million to spend. Unless they 'magic' some cash from somewhere then they'll be going into administration.
They plan a big clear out. They are expecting more than that off someone for Josh Windlass for a huge profit off a 60k signing. Coffers will have millions more in it with the Gerrard affect. They will sell more replica shirts and be able to charge more for advertising and corporate.
Trust me on this one. Unless they get a serious amount of external money then they will be back in serious trouble. I feel for their fans because the local media are nothing more than PR puppets for the current Chairman and are not asking the questions that need answering. It'll be fun to watch it unfold again.
Time will tell I guess. We'll see how many other managers in McBurnie's career play him left wing. Don't remember McBurnie creating many chances for others. Don't remember him giving much cover to our left back allowing the opposition to destroy us down that flank. Don't remember him looking very good in that position at all really. Don't remember him scoring any goals when drifting in from the left. I remember him scoring a lot of goals when taking up a central position though, from crosses from the right, where he would have been far more often had we played him in the position in which he excels. But we'll see.
That he did. But he also scored goals that had no relevance to his left wing position and were a direct result of him being in the box. His favoured position. Wonder how many goals he could have scored not being asked to run his blood to water getting back to defend? By being in the box more often? Would he have scored the chances Kieffer Moore missed? Would he have played 90 minutes more often? Would we have looked stronger defensively? Speculation but all in all he was wasted on the left wing and not anywhere near involved enough in our attacking play. Especially in those games when we didn't turn up.
Sorry Jay. I think I wa Sorry Jay. Think I was typing my comment/reply once you'd already posted yours (they're pretty much like for like!)
McBurnie occupied a position that not only suited him but suited the players at Morais’ disposal. Moore contributed 4 goals and 4 assists after he joined the club and was vital to the way that we played yet people are seemingly happy to chuck him under a bus in favour of McBurnie in a lone CF role or alternatively play 4-4-2 despite our central midfield frailties. It’s absolutely pointless having this discussion anyway, just found it amusing that Jay immediately went in with the McBurnie down the middle rhetoric that we’ve seen for months. Anyway, he’s not our player and he was excellent in the fashion he was deployed.
