Probably is mate, everyone feels the same but I wouldn’t get despondent - it’s not anyone’s fault - these things do drag
For me the most interesting and important thing Patrick said was that in the absence of any other developments the shares in the club will remain in the family, and they will continue to run it. Sadly he looks very poorly and frail now. He was given a resounding standing ovation at the end and was visibly moved.
Ovation was fantastic. And was great to see James and Jean there, and, as Patrick said, the club will be in good hands. I for one seriously hope James has reconsidered and would like to support and build on his fathers legacy. A very smart and forward looking young man.
Must admit I agree with Young Nudger to some extent, part of my motivation for going tonight was to try and get a bit of insight into the two key issues at the minute but, in the politest possible way, they refused to say anything at all. Understandable maybe, but after going to these kind of things many times in the past, we've always been given a little bit more. Other than that though, strange kind of night; compared to the one with Patrick and Ben a few years ago where Ben did most of the talking and answered a lot of questions, Gauthier seemed reluctant to answer and Patrick tended to answer everything apart from the general marketing type questions which I thought was a bit strange, Patrick's illness made discussing the future difficult because it's pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Shook Patrick's hand at the end, I hope it's not the last time I do that.
Not a great deal to pass on. The meeting was somewhat sombre and low key. When Patrick came to the front everyone went quiet as a mark of respect. He is very frail. Both his wife and his son were in attendance. Things you need to know. Nothing to report on the Takeover. Nothing Imminent. Was more or less accepted that the Takeover is bound by confidentiality clauses and therefore can't talk about it. "Nothing is happening" - Patrick's words No approach from Sunderland for Hecky. Club is in very safe hands. Shares are all with the family and family will take the club forward. Quite a bit of chat about the Moneyball system used by Club. There will be some leavers in January and some recruitment. Cryne views Hecky as a very good Manager. He still adores Conor and did everything to keep him but in the end it was money that Villa had. Cryne prepared to make him highest paid player in Barnsley's history. We simply can't compete with other teams in Championship and what we are offering. Gauthier Ganaye says Club is breaking more than even, wouldn't discuss any financial details Cryne says we could do with Winnall (to audible groans and signs) and fought hard to keep him but he didn't want to stay. Both he and Yiadom wanted to go. They did consider Grove St School as part of redevelopment of Oakwell but at time it was too early and has now passed by. There were a few minor questions and quips but that's the main gist of it all. I'm trying to remember as we were asked not to do social media whilst meeting taking place.
Have I misunderstood what Who exactly built it up as a big day for the club ? I never heard the club big it up at all , all I heard was people who are craving for news constantly bigging it up , you are right , gullible is a very apt description for some people
I did indeed. I sat with Bossman who was excellent company all night and filled me in on all the gossip lol !
