It's all worked out mate but was painful at the time. All came to a head NYE 2015... i'm with someone else now and much happier
What do Premier League footballers have to be depressed about? 0% of them would swap places with someone on minimum wage and working in Farmfoods. They have the freedom that having loads of money brings, that most of us don't have and sends many to an early grave. Some perspective needed.
I am unqualified to state this. However, I am almost certain that a large house, a Ferrari and a healthy bank balance are not known cures for depression and anxiety. We've all been a little bit 'rocked off' at times when money is tight, maybe even had sleepless nights over work and money worries. But that's normal life, not mental health. Feel blessed, though, that you don't understand this.
Well he's posted absolute ***** about foreigners and women, it's hardly a surprise that he board's resident bigot has taken a shot at mental illness too
I can't believe that in this day and age there are still people who believe that having depression is just being a bit pissed off about summat. Unless of course, it's a bit of a wind up...
I won't pretend to understand depression but I don't think you have to understand it to accept it really do you.
Nope. I don't understand any illness, but I accept that they exist. I fail to see why some people think that a brain illness is somehow different to any other human illness, and can be cured permanently by saying "cheer up" or "pull yourself together" in a soothing tone.
Here's a bit of perspective for you Chambers. I have a customer who is a multi millionaire. Big house, several cars including a Maserati. 2nd home in Portugal. Before he sold his business he employed 350 people, and his wife was involved in her own families business. Lovely people. His daughter got ill and as a result of the worry his wife had a battle with anxiety, which really dragged her down. Worry isn't alleviated by wealth, in fact wealth can bring it's own pressures. Just as people that have met me wouldn't guess that I have bouts of depression, you should never take for granted that just because someone appears to have a comfortable life style, they don't have anything to worry about. Take away money and material things and we're all flesh, blood and thoughts. We're all capable of breaking down at any time.
Tried that with a girl friend (not girlfriend). "What's wrong? You're just immaculate!!" Tried everything to make her see what was wonderful in and all around her. Failed obviously. You could sense a fug in her mind coming out all around her. Not sure that this applies to everyone who's on depressants these days..
I tried that for years too, with a very good friend, also female. It just doesn't work. She knew what I was trying to do, and she respected me for it, but it didn't help her. She needed professional help, which sadly just isn't available in the UK. Now that really is depressing.
Imagine you have a **** day at work & one person goes online, they’ve took a photo of you at work & wrote next to it ‘this guys ******* useless, did so & so today’. Imagine how much it’d get to you, it would me. It’d mess my head up for sure. Now imagine you’re a footballer at Barnsley having a tough time, out of form & there’s plenty of posts on Twitter digging you out & a few on forums. People are even tagging your name in it so you see it. Again it’d get to me. Now imagine you’re playing for Man Utd in front of 85,000 with millions watching around the world & you’ve had a shocker of a game. There’ll be a minimum of 50k plus tweets about you. Again that’d get to me big time. Now I know it’s easy to say ‘it’s their jobs’ but they’re still regular blokes normally from working class backgrounds like us, it’s not easy to just block it out. To me it just puts it in perspective how **** I’d feel if one person criticises my work never mind 50,000.
