Bands that both fans and critics rave about but you think are tripe.

For me The Killers (very unoriginal name), Red Hot Chilli Peppers and the worst of all - U2.

Killers have done 1 absolute classic (mr Brightside). u2 have had a few good uns amongst a lot of crap. But RHCP? Quality for a long time (more recent stuff isn't that good mind).

U2, Coldplay (if anyone rates them in the first place), most of the Bob Marley and the Wailers stuff, the Police, Dire Straits(Dire indeed), Kasabian, Not a band but Jay Z, Radiohead (after the disappeared up their own arses). The list is literally endless.

Neil Young I always felt was pretty overrated.

Definitely Coldplay and The Police. The others are high up the list too but not sure I agree about Bob Marley.

With you on RHCP. A middle aged white bloke reading a rhyming dictionary whilst 3 of his middle aged mates play **** funk music. Embarrassing.

Most, no all boy bands (shockingly bad), most rap, modern R&B. Most music of today as played on the ghastly Galaxy / Capital / radio 1 makes my ears bleed.

The good less westernised Marley stuff I really like. The Studio One stuff is fantastic. The more mainstream stuff I can see what he wanted to do but seems too sanitised for reggae. I prefer dub stuff really but love reggae in general. I guess it just wi da me up when everyone equates reggae to the Wailers stuff.

I get your point. Reggae of the late 60's / early 70's can be class.

Agree with most of these, particularly Coldplay and RHCP.

I'd like to add Dragonforce, they can't even play their own songs/solos live ffs
