Re: total No Brainer... OASIS This is taking the thread on a tangent - but what is dubstep? I've heard of it but I haven't a clue what it sounds like.
Re: total No Brainer... OASIS I absolutely love Dubstep. Went to a Dubstep night in that London a couple of weeks ago. Fantittytastic. I've also pretty much abandoned guitar bands prefer dub reggae or Folkie stuff. Found myself tutting at a First Aid Kit gig a bit back dos people were talking. Now that's middle aged. It was an actual tut as well. As you say though NoelGallagher's albums are pretty hot **** and I never liked Starus QuoOasis so not sure where they came from.
Re: total No Brainer... OASIS I heavily suspect you'd hate it though I see it as linked to the sort of stuff you like.
Re: total No Brainer... OASIS Well, Untrue by Burial sounds like a compilation of Massive Attack, Aphex Twin and Tricky, played on the radio at the other side of the room at the wrong speed, with the dial not quite tuned in properly, underwater. And yet as a whole it is fab, particularly loud or through headphones. I bought it for my brother in law for his 50th, and he has a pretty similar taste to me, albeit he doesn't like some of the more mainstream stuff that I also like, and was thrilled to hear that he likes it too.
You're being a bit unfair there mate. The run from Meddle through to The Wall is great. I still listen to Animals quite often. Actually, my ex's mother got me that CD for my birthday years ago, from Penny Lane Records on, er, Penny Lane in Liverpool. She went into the shop and asked for a CD by The Animals called Pink Something. Apparently stumped the young lad behind the counter until the manager overheard and started pi55ing himself, as he realised what she meant.
Re: total No Brainer... OASIS I have heard of the artists you have mentioned but I couldn't begin to imagine what that would sound like.
Surprised to see Oasis & Arctic Monkeys on these lists. I remember when I was at college & was big into music & you'd talk Oasis & someone would say they didn't like them, I'd ask why & you'd get back 'they're too mainstream' & then when the Arctic Monkeys came through you'd get people saying they didn't like them because 'everyone else does'. Never understood that mentality, when you've got your headphones in, or listening to music in the car or in your house surely you listen to what you enjoy & not what you perceive to be cool? As for Oasis, the first two albums are incredible & a lot of the B- sides around that time are just as good. If they'd have put Whatever, Listen Up, Fade Away, Talk Tonight, Half the world away, it's good to be free & a couple others as their own album people would talk about 3 great albums back to back. After that they obviously went off the boil a bit with a few good songs scattered about. I kind of hope they get back together just so I can see them tour but I hope it's not permanent as Noel's solo stuff is better than the last few Oasis albums where Liam & the others were writing songs. Arctic Monkeys first two were belters & then the 3rd & 4th were a bit of a let down but I love the 5th album, back to their best
Masterplan is possibly their best single. Better than 'Don't look back in anger' in my humble opinion. I think Noel realised what a crass decision it was to have it as a 'B' side.

Don't look back in anger is one of my least favourite oasis tracks, baffled how it always features high on people's favourites list.
