Interestingly enough i like The Arctic Monkeys third and fourth albums as much as the first one and it's only the second half of Favourite worst nightmare that saves it for me. Also as a side point, i don't get why people say Alex Turner is a spanner and use that as a reason not to like them, of course he's a spanner! He's a rockstar what do you expect him to be like!? Wouldnt matter if Arctic Monkeys only had one good album, Whatever People Say I Am is absolute genius at work and puts them ahead of pretty much every other recent band on that album alone. Up there with Nevermind and Original Pirate Material. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You've got to be a certain kind of mental to be able to perform in front of stadium's full of fans. On top of that he's a millionaire & has women throwing themselves at him. Good luck to him
It's a quality song, not their best but up there amongst their best. Definitely (maybe) in their top five songs.
I think the thing that puts me off Oasis (apart from them being tripe) is that my Dad likes them - and who wants to listen to the same music as their Dad?!
I think some of my musical preference comes from listening to my Dads music as a kid. Fortunately he had good taste. I think Oasis are pretty good, some of their stuff is anyway.
My Dad liked the usual - The Beatles, Stones, Led Zep, The Who - then he had a midlife crisis and got into Oasis.
That's what my dad did...unfortunately it was my sports car and young blonde.....god I love and miss that car
Listen to other similar bands? I have to say I liked Blink when I was younger, but I've always preferred stuff like Alkaline Trio, NoFX, Rancid etc
When I started listening to blink it was about 1997 when they released Dude Ranch. As a 15 year old lad they were perfect for me at that time. I loved other bands, the obvious ones - Nirvana, Blur, Oasis, REM etc. Was into Ice Cube too, liked a bit of gangsta rap. Also liked a bit of happy hardcore in those days when I used to get off my tits on various substances. But blink just stuck with me. Like I aged with them. When they 'grew up' with the eponymous album, I'd just broke up with my first real love and the songs on that album might as well have been written for me. It's been downhill really ever since, but I have never tired of them like I do others. They formed most of the soundtrack to my life growing up. Anybody who knows me will associate a few things with me. Barnsley FC and blink-182 being the most obvious. As for other similar bands, aye. NOFX were brilliant. Screeching Weasel. Alkaline Trio. Which is funny now Skiba looks set to record with Mark and Travis. Thought he did a great job filling in for Tom recently for those gigs. Different kind of vibe obviously, but it's been clear for a long time that Tom isn't comfortable singing and playing blink music anymore. Was good to see Skiba putting some of that punk back into the old songs. I hope for an album, reckon he and Mark could create summat special.
