    Out for 5 weeks I’ve been told.

    The injury happened on the Friday in training and made worse by playing on Saturday.

    So we’re now with 1 recognised CM due to injuries. We were crying out for another midfielder, was that transfer window the best ever... really?!

    That's a big blow. Such a vital player for us. Impossible to replace from this squad.

    Kenny Dougal is better at defending.
    Styles will eventually be a better player.
    Problem is both need bringing up to speed which will take time.
    As things stand - much of the forward play is centred around Mowatt - so for a while it could be awkward to adapt.

    On the basis the transfer window is not available to us - why not look on it as an opportunity for someone to step up and have a go!
    Moan to your heart`s content about not signing someone but it`s not going to change the situation - getting behind who does step up just might!

    Jack Rodwell The man who famously wouldn’t leave Sunderland because he was on 70k a week? Not for me him injury prone and a mercenary, and he’d want too high wages.

    We only have Mcgeehan and Styles with Dougall and Mowatt injured and no back up.


    In my opinion a defensive midfielder signing was as much a priority before the transfer window closed as a striker.

    McEachran would be a good shout, only 26 with about 200 games in the Championship to his name. Would certainly add experience to the squad and wouldn’t be going against the recruitment policy as he’s still relatively young.

    Jared Bird wasn't even on the bench last night so I doubt it.

    I am sure Stendel wanted to move him on in the a summer.
