I've just been talking to a RUFC supporting mate, whose opinion I respect. He said Moore was good when he was under the radar and not so good when teams got wise to him. He can't see him being good enough for the Championship. I suppose the fact that he didn't score in his final five games backs that up.

I'm looking forward to seeing what impact he has on the team, it's more than just his own record. I might be wrong and it might be a complete failure, but I'm still convinced there are goals in the side from Moore, but also from the likes of Thiam, Bradshaw, Hammill etc and Moore might be the player who others can feed off. One of our failures in recent times has been a lack of goals from others, bar the odd one from Potts for example. To me, he's a signing that also offers a greater value to others around him. Let's back him anyway and see what happens.

Agree. One of the problems has been that we have nobody to establish a bridgehead higher up the pitch - think of how deep Bradshaw has had to come - so if this lad's presence can help us force teams back a bit then maybe Bradshaw can get back more regularly into tap-in-Tom :D range and if it enables Thiam to do his stuff just inside the box instead of ten yards outside it all well and good. There's been a lot of comment about Hammill's number of assists this season too but, if I remember rightly, through the first part of the season he was at or near the top of 'chances created' list - it wasn't Adam's fault that there was nobody to put them away!

(I'd like to see someone with searing pace as well to give Hecky the full range of options).

It’s not just about the goals he will score, it’s about the changing dynamic of the team, a focal point to win his fair share of aerial challenges for the rest to feed off, I imagine (and hope) he’ll play up in a two as and when we strengthen the midfield.

He could score only a couple but have a massive positive effect on the team in other ways.

Either way, instead of being underwhelmed, get behind him

    Boxing Day 2003. We won 2-1 with a double from...........Kevin Betsy o_O.

The rain was bouncing feet high off the roof of the car - only parked a couple of hundred yards from the ground and it took me until new year to dry out.

Did it rain that day? I remember us kicking against a very strong wind in the first half and as soon as we equalised I said we would win. Can't remember the rain at all.

Went there in 2003 and also 2004 and 2006 (both 1-1s) - may have mixed the weather up between games but it definitely sheeted it down at one of them.

It’s fair to say our signings since promotion have been pretty poor on the whole so maybe it’s the one came unexpectedly good. It’s a shame we can’t play Rotherham they could chuck Ronnie Moore song back at us.

If football recruitment is so bleeding easy why don't you take it up as a career instead of bleeding the state dry?

Your dislike of Hecky is clouding your judgement to the point that your opinion of him and everything he does comes across as irrational. I'm not just saying this to score cheap points Phil, it really does appear like a witch-hunt whenever you post.

You're entitled to your opinion but as you will have noticed from the Hecky in / our post the other day the vast majority of fans are still very much behind Hecky. Are we all being fooled or are you and the rest of the minority just looking for issues that aren't there or pointing the finger of blame in the wrong direction?

When I first said I wanted Wilson out the hate I got was worse than this but I could see it was the only way things would improve. It's more this time. The longer he's spending with the group this season, the worse it's getting. Best home performance was in August (imo Sunderland). Best away performance September against Millwall for me. Preston away another noteworthy performance. He's getting things wrong in the market. Mcgeehan whats all that about. He simply doesn't get a run then out onloan. He was very good in the two games mentioned.

I think it's others that are clouded I really do. This notion of been from Barnsley.

I was hoping to see him to at middlewood today. Thought he might have gone but the game was off. Ask him a few questions of my own.

No. We played Swindon Town a few weeks later, beat them 2-0 and it was Norman Hunter's first game as manager.

Agree. In a Paul Wilkinson type of way. Vilified for not scoring enough, but his value to 'that team' can never be underestimated.
