Got the vinyl yesterday. Had on repeat since. Blown away by it personally. Some of the lyrics are his finest yet. Understand it takes a few listens to get into, but it's worth the effort.
Just listened to it twice through, love it. Definitely not an arena gig album though. Maybe a small dark club with whiskey and cigars would be more apt, but all the same I think it's brilliant.
Is it a "contractual obligation" album? Like when a band wants to move to a new record company but they have one album left on their contract so they just dash off some rubbish?
Saw them last night - the boys are on top form. Completely done my ankle in but still looking for a ticket for the second date toneet! Played mainly AM tracks but new stuff also went down really well. You're So Dark was a nice bonus too http://www.nme.com/news/music/arcti...ranquility-base-hotel-and-casino-tour-2323385
To be fair I paid £50 to see REM ten years ago (worth every penny) and that was in the days when people in general still actually bought albums. Spotify is a fantastic thing in general for the listener, but the reduced income for the artists has to be compensated from somewhere. The flip side is that the cost of concert tickets has risen exponentially. I remember the first time I saw the Manic Street Preachers I paid about a fiver.
I saw the maniac at the Adelphi in Hull for free. There was me 5 other people and the owner Paul jacksons dog fell asleep next to the amp. True story.
