I think they'll have a good idea, but I think they'll need all day Monday to review everything. There's a huge amount riding on their decision. As I mentioned in another post, everything needs to be absolutely watertight.
So if they can demonstrate Covid has affected their revenue which it has then potentially the 12 points can be overturned. I would think every club can demonstrate that but haven't gone in to administration, it's got to be judged on prior and buying players and paying wages with money they haven't got. Decision not as cut and dry as I thought but surely can't be overturned.
The appeal isn’t about their FFP though it’s about was it force majeur, the rest should be irrelevant.
Let’s cut them some slack and reduce it to 11 points then everyone’s happy, they get some sympathy and we get to stay up.
Remember that at this stage nobody knows ought! They can’t reduce the number of points because that’s the same as condoning it. They can delay it to next year, but that keeps an ownerless and insolvent club in the championship with no guarantee of them completing their fixtures. Having said that we are dealing with an obviously incompetent EFL who are probably scared of a legal challenge from a QC. Is that the reason the necessity for an independent’ board? So they don’t have to take the responsibility for the impact of their own rules.
the EFL have enacted there rules. Wigan have appealed in accordance with those rules. The appeal is rightly seen by an independent panel. I don’t get what’s so hard about it to understand.
do the rules give a club in Wednesday's situation the option of choosing to being relegated now rather than start next season on -12 points?
on another thread someone has accessed the SW forum and it seems there are number of messages there supporting the idea of taking relegation now.
The decision on Wednesdays punishment was delayed until after the season had ended , that’s why it’s next season deduction . Wigan are appealing a decision already made last season so the ‘option’ of delaying their points deduction to next season shouldn’t really apply , its remain as it stands or reduce/ cancel the deduction.
I agree wi this... I think its 50/50 which way it goes.. especially after knowing they could easily just reduce Wigan's points deduction, so they would still be guilty but we would still got down... everything is definitely up in the air here,, Things like Struber's return, yay or nay. Our sellable players staying or going.. also transfers in.. all surely on hold till Tuesdays decision.. Even the clubs very existence, if we go down, may be called into question.. We've already had next seasons, season ticket money.. Yes they're trying to get limited fans into grounds, but all you'll need is a second wave/spike and thats that, back to square one. Can't somehow see our owners bailing us out if we go down and hit hard time.. sorry I don't think its overstating the facts to say that Tuesday's ELF decision will at least determine the clubs short term future but also call in to question our very survival..
