Thanks for that, like others I thought it was a straight yes or no question over administration for the appeals panel.
All I can see is someone with a pretty new account and no followers that is replying to certain tweets. My guess is that whoever it is knows about as much as we do, but also knows there's a 50% chance that he's right.
Agreed the independent panel can, was quoting from the EFL guidelines but as they appealed I guess we are past those!
Didn’t say that it was hard to understand. Just that the rules are clear and any new evidence should be referred to the same board as the one who imposed the sanction, unless it’s suspected that the said board acted in bad faith in imposing the sanction in the first place. Is that what is being suggested? Also the other point about the current financial position of Wigan still holds true. If we have a body that allows the rules it has set out to be questioned by a another body and then wash its hands of the decision, then you could ask what the purpose of the EFL is. I have an image of men in blazers with jumpers for goalposts. Is my image wide of the mark? I’d also like to add that on our performance on the field over the season we don’t deserve to stay up. I have nothing at all against Wigan Athletic. If rules extend beyond the field as they are supposed to do, then we stay up, Derby, Sheffield Wednesday don’t get a stay of execution and Wigan are relegated along with Wednesday. Am I looking for Utopia?
The important point in all of this is that every single Club in the EFL knows the penalty if they enter administration re- the deduction of 12 points. What is the point of having these deterrents if they are not going to be enforced.? The Sheffield Wednesday decision is a complete farce. To ensure FairPlay, they should have been relegated. Totally unfair that their deduction is imposed during the upcoming season.
I'm not worried. Despite what some seem to think, the EFL aren't out to get us... The independent panel will take the path of least resistance, which in this case is confirming the punishment.
I read somewhere the Wigan Administrators quoted that a decision would be made early/mid next week, so Tuesday afternoon ties in with that statement
I don't see it like that. Wigan fans already blaming us for having to the audacity for winning football matches which has put them in a position to have to appeal the -12 points deduction
Do you think that the independent panel will take that into consideration? I don't. In fact they might reverse the decision to do just that - i.e. open up the floodgates to further administration cases to be referred to tribunal.. Something/Someone has got to keep them in employment... We don't live in normal times now.
It probably takes 3 days for the funds to be transferred from the Wigan chairman's account to the adjudicating panel's offshore Cayman islands account.
The bottom line is - to 'save' Wigan the Independent Panel will have to over-rule the EFL. That is a big responsibility for the I.P. to take and would probably see the end of the present EFL members.
