Really? There were a few round me in the Ponty who were on his case before a ball was kicked.

I was glad he went off. I didn't cheer though, but I was relieved he was going off as he looked out of it. I applauded him off. Thought he did ok in the first half, but not for the first time this season, he has given body language which just looks like he's not bothered. Should have come off 10 minutes sooner in my opinion. Maybe the cheer was more a collective sigh of relief, cos he looked like he was going to cost us? Either way, he did get a decent ovation from the crowd.

I've generally been impressed with Potts. But tonight he was mediocre, along with Fryers Moncur Ugbo and (apart from half a second of brilliance) Barnes.

Plus Davies has no excuse for letting that one in.

He's a lower standard Jordan Henderson. Preach all you like that he can be coached into being the next Gerrard or Hourihane in Potts' case. The natural ability is not there.

With all the will in the world Potts just hasn't got the athletic ability to play a leading role in this division, especially considering the way we try to play with the high pressing game. I feel for the lad because he was kind of hung out to dry tonight. When he's in the middle he can play a kind of Fellaini role, just cause problems and be a big awkward lad. Hes definitely not a winger, and he's not going to take a game by the scruff of the neck, he is what he is. His body can't do what it can't do.

Whatever Potts' flaws, his defensive game is ahead of Moncur and, as far as we can see, McGeehan.

If we're going to play 442 without Hourihane and Scowen we need to be solid with the middle two. In the long run I'd love Moncur or mcgeehan to fill that Hourihane role with Williams acting as the scrappy ball winner... but taking a strong (somewhat) experienced Brad Potts off for fresh-from-hospital McGeehan took all the oomph out of our midfield, which is exactly not what we need when defending a slender 1-0 lead.

I think Hecky made a mistake at half time. If Barnes was coming off I'd have liked to see Thiam fill that left winger role. Doing what Hecky says he can do. Staying low to the ground, using strength and speed to drive into the final third, and put the ball in the back of that weird white rectangle we seem to have forgotten about.

Potts isn't the messiah, but he's as good as we had to play in a 442, and he's good driving forward in a 5 man midfield. Plus he's got lovely blonde hair hasn't he

Potts was dead on his feet and needed to come off. Illustrated perfectly by his refusal to move to two passes within a yard of his feet. Had he any energy left, I'd have kept him on and replaced Ugbo, but Potts needed to go because he couldn't keep up.

He’s a tryer and has had decent games but I can’t agree with anyone who thinks he was anything but poor tonight.

    Shouldn’t be cheered off though.

I don't get it with Potts. What is he? A big lad who is easily knocked off the ball. A big lad who doesn't jump to win the countless high balls that we toss up in the air. A big lad who is, in my opinion, a weak link. Maybe he is playing with the wrong players but I have yet to see him come good for us.

    Same here.

He was MOM against Sunderland wasn't he?

I missed the game tbh so god knows what he was up against because I don't know what he is.

To be fair to him he was played out of position in the 2nd half and he definitely isn't a winger. PH should have taken Ugbo off and put Hedges on the wing and Potts back in the middle to go back to 4-5-1 as we were clearly getting nowhere with 4-4-2..

He's got a good 6 pack :) Joking aside, I'd say he looks more like a rugby player. A back / wing type.

Those who cheered are a disgrace. It's typical of our fan base, it happens every year! The lads a tryer and I believe he will become a good player for us. The problem we ha e is that these players need time, and time is something you don't get given in this league.

Most of these lads have jumped up 2 divisions to come here, they are not championship players, but they will be, eventually. It's all about time.

I think Gardener is key for us, we need him back. Preston away, I thought he made us look solid and made some good runs forward. Very similar to Potts, but GG has experience at this level, and Potts hasn't.

Can we not just support these lads? Surely after our league one season we should know not to write players off after a shakey start? I remember 10 games in to the L1 season and saying to my mate that Roberts was out of his depth and should be dropped....

    How wrong was I?

Back them, they'll turn this round.

It's not just all about time. We will be extremely lucky if 7 out of the 14 are up to scratch.

Well I stood and applauded the lad off. He is no worse than half of the team.

What was I thinking. I'm going to get in early next home game and give him dogs abuse during the warm up. FFS.
