Has anyone on here had a conservatory roof replaced with a slate one? And has it been worthwhile? Thanks in advance for any input.
Conservatory roofs are better with the self cleaning glass. They are rubbish with poly carb sheeting as it goes off No problem with mine now.
Much warmer in winter with a solid roof as they insulate them up to current building regs. It's not actual slate they finish them with, it's a profiled tin sheeting in a slate or tile effect. Solarframe on Goldthorpe bypass do them, though if too expensive try Gary Mee (White Rose UPVC, Leeds fan but rayt enough) 07763 106035.
The couple over the road from me have just had theirs done and it looks fantastic. If I see them I'll ask what they think.
Solid lightweight roofs are quite popular now but be careful as once you put on a solid roof it is not classed as a conservatory and comes under building control, most of these roof companies will state that the roof complies with building regs, which in fact it does, but the rest of the structure doesn't meet this requirement (if existing) most people tent to ignore this fact but could come back to bite your bum. Most companies bend the rules
