There was a guy on the train this morning asleep without a face mask. Another passenger boarded the train and woke him up to tell him he should be wearing a mask and held a camera in his face calling him a disgusting individual. The guy who'd been asleep promptly punched him in the face. (There were other passengers sat on the carriage that didn't have face masks.) The guy who was assaulted then walked up and down the carriage filming the guy who'd lashed out. The guy who wasn't wearing a mask then walked down the carriage asking for the camera phone and grabbed the man who woke him by the throat and slammed his head into the window saying, "film me again and I'll smash your fecking face in. The guy without a mask was clearly in the wrong. However, he was singled out. Were they both in the wrong?
Makes a change for a man to challenge another man who could fight back ime. Also, some people are allowed not to wear them for medical reasons. Not sure why the need for anyone to film anyone though.
Man with the camera was a fkn idiot. Had he politely woke the man and suggested he really should be wearing a mask as per the law. I doubt he would have got a smack. No sympathy. Obviously the sleeping man had a mask if not why was he allowed on the train in the first place.
To tell you the truth I'm looking forward to round two because the two guys board the train regularly. The idiot works for the NHS and the guy who whacked him gets on at Rotherham with me.
Then surely the nhs worker should do the right thing and offer the sleeping man a face mask. To film someone without permission is IMO an invasion of someone’s privacy. Having said that please be ready to film round 2. Could be fun viewing.
The guy who woke him was in the wrong. He could have asked a staff member to speak to him. Maybe the guy had a health condition which gets him out of wearing the mask. Instead the guy thought he would assume the man was breaking a rule and tried to police the train himself when it wasn't his job to do so. He also shouldn't have been filming it but this is the era we are in where people want to film confrontation to get their likes on social media.
Was he asleep with his mouth open or shut and was he snoring? Need to know before I make a decision on whether he was in the wrong or not.
Agree with the sentiment of your post but just wanted to point out that’s it’s not the law that you have to wear a mask - it’s only guidance.
What’s wrong with the world, the obvious solution to this would be to have dropped a bungles finger in the sleeping mans bag and stolen his phone.
Both sound like idiots to me but at the end of the day I guess the bigger idiot is the one who is potentially exposing people to disease but it’s a close call.
The NHS worker could well have been at his wits end & I can understand NHS workers frustration, he may have just snapped. If you want idiots there's 10's of thousands to choose from & it's saddening.
Oops sorry mate. I was forgetting. It is law here in Scotland to wear a face mask when on buses, trains, planes, taxis and boats. Only guidance in shops atm but I can see the day soon that it will be law where ever you go in Scotland. Btw we have had 4 days in a row with no Covid deaths. And hospital admissions and those on ventilators are all down. I’ve not heard what today’s figure is but Nicola will reveal all at 12.30. We seem to be on top of things here. Hope things continue to improve.
No its the Law https://www.gov.uk/government/news/...g-in-on-monday-will-help-keep-passengers-safe and in particular https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-safer-travel-guidance-for-passengers#face-coverings "From 15 June 2020, it is the law that you must wear a face covering when travelling in England on a: bus or coach train or tram ferry or hovercraft or other vessel aircraft cable car" You can be fined for not following it There are exceptions though which drive a horse and cart through it You do not need to wear a face covering if you have a legitimate reason not to. This includes: not being able to put on, wear or remove a face covering because of a physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability if putting on, wearing or removing a face covering will cause you severe distress if you are travelling with or providing assistance to someone who relies on lip reading to communicate to avoid harm or injury, or the risk of harm or injury, to yourself or others to avoid injury, or to escape a risk of harm, and you do not have a face covering with you to eat or drink, but only if you need to to take medication if a police officer or other official requests you remove your face covering
I heard you were considering introducing quarantine for people coming over from England - it makes sense if you ask me
I can almost sympathise with the camera guy if he works for the NHS - he must be pig sick of working his knackers off to fight something that idiots such as the "sleeper" are doing their best to help spread, no less breaking the law by not wearing a mask on public transport. However, shoving a phone in someone's face and calling them disgusting is ill-advised, especially when it's an individual whose remaining brain cells are wired to punching strangers. Result - both in the wrong, the "sleeper" is the bigger nobhead though.
But you're supposed to be refused entry if you havn't got a valid reason not to wear one? Thought that was the rule. Havn't used public transport for a long time so no idea if this is being implemented. I've seen them handing masks out to those that havn't got one on the news at some train stations. I guess with the volume of traffic it would be difficult to police.
Not heard that mate. But if things continue to improve here and things get worse in England it would be sensible to take measures to try and halt the virus travelling. The situation in Leicester today is terrible news.
