Genuine question. The question of anti Semitism. Is one that has always slightly puzzled me. Is no one allowed to criticise the Jewish nation on anything. Even if true. to the extent everything said is taboo. What is anti Semitic. and what is criticism. What is deemed offensive rather than racist. I’m here to be educated having tried to take in the meaning.
I doubt that RLB has thoroughly researched where the US police got their suppress suspect neck tactic from. But it looked like a rehearsed mode of operation. Maybe it was adopted from the Israelis. So what?
We should be concerned when the mere mention of training tactics of the Israeli state (which the article specifies they deny) is deemed antisemitic enough to lose a hardworking, decent MP her position simply for sharing a link to the article. It's in context, as the point of the interview was Peake's role as a Palestinian in an upcoming play. Israel are a state, not a race or a religion. Their actions must be open to scrutiny free from the silencing of critique, as with any other nation state.
Long- Bailey has done nothing wrong. Maybe naive in retweeting/highlighting others comments but on substance, as I say, she has done nothing wrong. People shouldnt be sacked for doing nothing wrong.
Nah can't see that ever happening. RLB was just a bit part in the Starmer era so it was an easy decision I reckon. If it had been someone within his inner circle maybe a different story.
Not only is she not professing to have done the research, she didn’t say she had, didn’t quote it, but only quoted someone who had posted something unproven
A very talented member of the Shadow Cabinet and she'll be missed. A real shame but Starmer had no choice, otherwise the right wing media would have gone into meltdown and Boris's mate the chief Rabbi would have been wheeled out to spout his nonsense...
Casual anti semitism from RLB and she deserved to go, Labour has had a problem with anti semitism under corbyn. The corbynista need to be purged if the profile of the party is to improve. No brainer she had to go.
If what she endorsed by retweeting is untrue, then what is she doing passing that on where we all know the Labour Party is on trial for antisemitism? Has anyone bothered to get at the truth? Your own post is well on the way to being racist by the way, in its reference to the Chief Rabbi. But I doubt anyone will complain too much on here.
I heard an extended interview with the Chief Rabbi during the build up to the election. He's a big fan of Boris apparently and had clearly been asked to stir up the whole Labour Party anti Semitic row and I disagreed with his views. I don't think RLB has done anything as overtly racist as some of Boris's articles.
criticizing the state of israel and its regime isn,t anti semitic, Israel is a state, not a religion, i,m not sure what RLB has tweeted, but i,m told its summat to do with retweeting that the knee on the kneck thing used by american cops was copied from the israelis, if thats right, wheres that anti semitic, what if its actually true...
can you help me out with how the rabbi comment was racist? It’s genuine question am i missing something?
People keep going on about there being a big anti-semitic faction in the Labour Party. I don't know whether there is or has been or not. I haven't noticed anything at all myself. But it's not surprising if you have to choose sides, when your flock members are being picked on.
"Well on the way" was my comment. He asserted that the Chief Rabbi basically spouted nonsense. He didn't refer to a specific comment, but anticipated that anything the Chief Rabbi might say would be nonsense. The Chief Rabbi represents a certain type of person. That is for me well on the way to being racist. You are free to disagree.
