2022 | Cauley Woodrow! Club News Striker extends his Oakwell stay! Continue reading on the official site...
I think it's good news but I am a bit confused. I thought he had signed a 2 1/2 year contract in January with the club having an option of an extra year which goes to 2022. This to me seems like the same.
Can't see anything about option for a year when he signed till 2021, so this would be an extension. And as, said, probably a renegotiation which is hopefully a sign of a wage structure that will give us a chance of competing.
Yeah I’d assume his level of performance has been probably higher than we expected and thus, have given him a wage increase along with the extra year. Let’s hope we can get some more contracts signed now.
Thank you Cauley. Like a lot of our squad, you can tell he loves playing for Barnsley and respects Daniel. Sincerely hope others now follow his lead. Also a big thanks to the Board for showing their early intent. Looks as though they have real ambitions for our future. Gives me hope, that from next season, hopefully we won't be at the wrong end of the table like we were in some of our previous stays in the Championships.
We know that £2 million of the £6 million increased revenue will go in to the existing squad. This is some of that, hopefully Pinnock and Lindsay are others.
I think what we can all take from this is that nobody on here or on Twitter has leaked this prior to it being announced. The club is doing its business behind the scenes, correctly, and we shouldn't be trying to second guess if certain players have been offered contracts or not.
Well, that is a bloody good first signing of the summer. Mowatt signed up last season, now Woodrow. Does feel like our strategy is changing.
