AN EVENING WITH KHALED EL-AHMAD Club News Your chance to join our Chief Executive Officer in his first public appearance since taking the reins here at Oakwell! Continue reading on the official site...
Why do these events always now seem to be at The Garrison instead of Legends Suite at Oakwell? Do the owners of the pub have some sort of hold over the club?
Solid location for access by train or car. Doesn't take a potential booking away from the Legends Suite. Decent size with good acoustics/audio so more people can attend. Supports a local business rather than keeping everything in house. Hardly blessed with options.
Well, the last/most recent event (with Paul Conway) a couple of weeks back was at the club. This one with Khaled is at The Garrison because we wanted a more informal setting, a more relaxed atmosphere and our friends at The Garrison are the perfect hosts for an event of this size.
Looking forward to trying out the new premises in the coming weeks when it's opened https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/what...ry/take-sneak-peek-huddersfields-new-21624052

I have been very disappointed with the performance of our academy in producing players of the right quality over a long number of years. Indeed many of our recent successes come from over-18s recruited from other academies. It is an area that we must seek to improve because it supplements the club's general strategy of buy young, improve and sell on. I would be interested in what the problems are, and how the new CEO intends to resolve those problems.
Yeah we've been poor for a while in producing a Barnsley born first team regular in our academy. Surely we have scouts out watching local junior Football to spot them and invite them in for trials.
Maybe the homegrown lads all realise, like I did, that lasses and beer are better than football when they hit 16.
Aren't premier League clubs able to cherry pick kids these days from others for little outlay? Based on category of academy... Or did that get snowballed. Meaning we could invest years in a kid from say darfield until he gets mopped up by man city for 50k when he's 14. I know we often have those days whereby we pick up ones that have not made the grade at other academies. Totally forgot how things work these days.
