really chuffed with that, great to see the club building foundations and a backroom team with ex players who love the club.

But the 'Head Coach' has to assimilate Academy graduates into his team.... ?

I eagerly anticipate what might happen now when the head coach doesn't play the players from the Acadamey that the 'club' think he should

I don't think that's any different to normal though - they're responsibility is to develop the players & recommend them to the Head Coach. If the Head Coach rates them, he'll put them in the first team squad.

Haha. I think, to be fair to them, Paul Heckingbottom being involved at both sides helps.

I hope it works as one big happy family and there is at last a continuity and a pathway for academy lads - too many have not made the step from 18/19 yrs old into our 1st team.

Thats majorly down to the fact that they havent been good enough or had better players in front of them. it happens at every club, one clubs new signing is usually anothers cast off. especially true at academy level where a lot of our kids have been released by bigger academies at junior level.

It's majority down to us bringing in young lads from other teams instead of blooding our own. I think a big reason for that is that we are for some reason overprotective of our youth players and would rather risk a 17 year old from somebody else because if he looks bad we send him back no harm done while if ours look bad his development or career could be over. We need to start realising that sometimes our kids have to be thrown in at the deep end in order to progress. Look at stones. He wasn't played because he was the best available in the land, it was because the manager hated bobby hassell with a passion and the only alternative was stones.
George smith was thrown in at the deep end because we had nobody else. He's developed into a good player at this level.
Mason holgate and James Bree were played because we failed to bring in anyone else, they weren't brought in because we thought they were world beaters, it was because we had no options on the day.

Now if we could just start risking OUR players instead of someone else's when we DO have a choice we might be onto something

My opinion on Paul Digby is that he is as good if not better than anyone in our team
