Thankyou for this. I would much rather listen to our own. It's not like the professionalism is any less. Listening to the Michael Somebody character on radio sheff yesterday (cardiff), I could just feel that he did not give a shi t about Barnsley. And I do not want to hear about chesterfield, blades owls r'ham donny.

So thankyou to the decision makers.

Can I just say as someone who doesn't travel away much nowadays and doesn't subscribe to Player, I listen to virtually every RS commentary of our games. Now overall, they're not bad, but not that great either. They're at their worst when playing the Sheffield clubs. Now take Tuesday night's game against the Owls, thanfully screaming John Pearson wasn't on duty, instead they had Brian Laws, who was tinged with bias but I felt overall did an accomplished job. Derrick Parker was just the usual Derrick Parker so no surprises there. However, just 2 things really grated at me by the 2 match commentators between them.
    1. The constant referrals to Wednesdays injuries and suspension, not a peep about our players that were unavailable, who have featured in quite a few games for us this season, namely, MarleyvWatkins, Adie White and Adam Armstrong.
    2. and this really did grate with me, As the game approached the Hour mark, a comment was made about our fitness levels and could we last/sustain them. To me this was an inference that we were some sort of inferior team, who should be now ready to bow to our illustrious opponents levels of superiority. In a way that non-league teams often fade in epic cup ties against top class opponents.
I can't help but get the feeling Radio Sheffield do get satisfaction when we lose to the Sheffield clubs.
    Rant over.

Him yesterday spent more time telling us the other results from other games (not just local ones) than describing the action.

    Thank ****.

    Long overdue.

Radio Sheffield coverage was awful, that guy yesterday who kept referring to us as the visitors was ridiculous. I Ended up listening to the Cardiff commentry.

Was the arrangement with RS a Mansford legacy perhaps? If so, there would have been contractual obligations on both side. I wonder if THAT text message gave BFC a way out of the contract?

It certainly was a completely bizarre piece of unprofessional behaviour. Never heard anything like it!

Great that the club are really listening to the fans these days.

Radio Dee Dar were pretty poor all the way through, but Saturday's commentator was a watershed in how you can disrespect your audience.
He couldn't even mention our name, just calling us the "visitors".

Glad to have Matt back & I'm sure the media team will do us proud.

We don't necessarily need a biased commentary, just a fan based one, that has a real feel for what is going on at the club & will speak their opinions freely,
    which for me is Matt.

I'm still a subscriber, as I valued the other excellent footage that you get for about a fiver a month, but I'd recommend anyone who doesn't to give it a try.

    Well done BFC.

Good riddance to the bloody awful radio Sheffield and their woeful service to our club. Now we're back delivering the commentary I'm signing back up.

I wish that we and all the other non Sheffield local clubs would cut all ties with them, they couldn't give a toss for any of us. The Sheffield bias is nauseating especially when you consider that they are license fee funded.

concur with everyone else. absolutely the right thing to do, and was an odd move in the first place. i don't buy into the RS agenda either. they're a sheffield based station, with commitment across the region. they're not barnsley fans. makes no sense to ally ourselves to them for a matchday subscription service. onwards and upwards..

Brilliant news. Wish my moaning worked on Mrs C as effectively... :D

Ivrybody should sign up. It's a fantastic service and great value, for those of us who can't get to every match for whatever reason...

Well done BFC and the fantabulous media team... :)

Never listened to player past or present.so have no comment about the quality. What I don't want though is to listen to an overly-biased commentary ( not that I'm saying that is the case) ala Keith Edwards and John Pearson for the 2 Sheffield clubs on RS. I do like to hear an objective view as long as the comments are qualified/ reasoned. Going to be interesting listening initially next week, but I think the Rotherham robbery at Hillsbro, will dominate the air waves next week.

    Well worth subscribing to.

Video stuff is really good & pre Radio Shitfield, so was match commentary. What we had before their takeover, (that Mansford agreed), was really good, a bit low budget, but heart warming, entertaining & full of comment.

Not saying all Dee Dar Radio commentators were that bad, but a subscription service should be fan based & have the right for opinion & debate. At best we were getting a dry minimum of who was on the ball & at worst it was like last Saturday, with a bloke who clearly wanted Cardiff to win.
It is appalling really that a BBC service that is meant to cover an area is so biased. They are funded by the licence fee after all (Mario Kempes pointed this out & I agree).

As I say give it a try.

Replica shirts and half season passes for the trifecta :)

Surprised so many will sign up just because of this one commentary change. There is so much content for the price that something so small shouldn't have put people off subscribing.

I dunt mind Radio Sheffield commentary or Derek Parker`s summarising. It serves its purpose to me.
