Would think that depends on terms. Most commercial properties come with a clause saying the tenant is responsible for ongoing repairs.
Could just pick it up and move it over here. Leave it near the M1 at Dodworth and by the time the planners have objected we could move it to Birdwell. The club could be like travelers going from one field to another.
It’s a strange situation , we have to assume the Cryne family shares are held in Trust and controlled by an executor , otherwise the Cryne family as 20% owners of the club are taking themselves to court to get money they are with holding from themselves
Eight years ago I was asked by the club to make enquiries about relocation, ideally somewhere closer to junction 36.
I didn't mean that I thought Lee, Conway etc had acquired the club to strip it of assets. Just that the only reason there would be for the Council to purchase the land is to preserve it as a community asset to protect it from unscrupulous individuals who may try and take control of the club to aquire the land. For what it's worth, I personally don't think they want to club to asset strip. I think they saw it as a cheap purchase with the potential for a massive financial return if run properly and they achieved promotion. I do think they have underestimated how difficult that would be though...
The Council can't just veto it arbitrarily, they could oppose it but Members of the Planning Committee would have their say, and it could then go to Govt Inspectors on appeal.
Merchants of doom are out in full force, already, I see. We've gone from news of this court notice to "WE'LL BE PLAYING OUR HOME GAMES AT HILLSBOROUGH SOON AS CHIEN UNITED!" in less time than it takes a drunken Conway to dismantle his corgi trouser press whilst on the blower to Beane and Hung cursing the fact that their lucrative "asset stripping" gig has been rumbled by a custodian from beyond the grave.
I imagine it’s likelier to be donny or rotherham rather than one of the Sheffield clubs or Huddersfield. Can’t see it getting to that point though.
Doesn't paint the Crynes in a good light, if they deliberately misled the new investors. Taking money in January with the knowledge that the option for the investors to purchase 50% of Oakwell was not viable. Could have serious implications in the long term.
If they do it up and thereby have more matchday/ non matchday revenue? Long term renters on the continent will do major changes with the landlords permission.
The word prosecute here does not mean in the legal sense of prosecuting somebody for a crime but rather in sense of furthering the aims of the club. institute or conduct legal proceedings against (a person or organization). "they were prosecuted for obstructing the highway" continue with (a course of action) with a view to its completion. "a serious threat to the government's ability to prosecute the war"
