Also, I'm fairly sure we hadn't signed Ritzmaier then, or at least, he'd only just joined.

I wasn't bahres biggest fan but I don't agree with sunbing players after 20 minutes he did it with odour once aswell does nothing for young players confidence and they shouldn't be starting in the 1st place if you give them 20 minutes waste of a sub. Also double standards when your starting ritzmaier week in week out.

Struber is an absolutely awful manager that's why. Luckiest bloke in football

Lost my religion a bit under Struber. He hauled Styles off at half-time v Birmingham when he was only bloke having a go.

Yep - the definition of an awful manager is to take over when your side is 7 points away from relegation safety, yet keep them up at the end of the season.

    All down to luck.

He had a great game at Fulham in the 0-3 victory. Best away day in years...

    Struber's statistics:

    Played 39 - points 50

In a full season then - that amounts to 59 points.

59 points in the Championship is getting around midtable.

The average for the drop is 47 points.

Nobody ever will have been relegated with 59 points.

    That's how awful he was.

I like it when managers have a go to win games, abit too negative for me. Did well to keep us up at the expense of wigan getting deducted points but started the season awfully we couldn't even score a goal. Blessing in disguise he went imo.

Where did I say he was a great manager?.

I was defending him from the title of awful manager.

I trust that you appreciate the subtle difference.

It's always dangerous when you play not to get beat. One slip and you're in the brown. If you try to win (regardless of the fashion) you'll get better results. I never envisaged this season starting so badly. Struber sured us up but we still looked o.k going forward during 19/20 under his guidance.

We even looked a decent outfit under Murray as caretaker. He got the players gee'd up which made Valeries job easier.

I like Valerie but he's direct, not affraid of ruffling feathers which is good if you've tackle to do it with.

Our squad is too thin to be falling out with players. Eventually you have a few defeats and they drop you in it.

I'm happy to write the last three defeats and cup exit tomorrow off because they were playing solid teams.

I will be worried if we don't pick up owt from the next three. Probably stating the obvious there.

Cheers Magic Mike, you massive bloody enigma. From premier league to league 2 and back in the space of 12 seconds. Still can’t work him out.
    Good luck.

Thing is though he didn't have a full season so it's a bit academic. He improved us enough to stay up , job's a good un.

On leaving us after three or more seasons, most of us still feel that he has 'potential'. to quote Jack Gibson, "Potential don't win matches"

That's a little disingenuous to be honest after the guy help us stay up last season, and provided one of the best moments of being a Barnsley fan. You could say he lost the plot at the start of this season after he'd had his head turned, but I will always remember him fondly after the great escape of July 2020.

    Thanks Gerhard

Had football not been stopped for a period of time I think we would have got relegated. The lockdown definitely favoured us.
