Stendel: "This was a test for us." Interviews Gaffer's post-match thoughts after Dons victory The Reds' Head Coach felt that Saturday's big win at Wimbledon was the reward of hard work when he spoke to us post-match. Continue reading on the official site...
Do we have to use derogatory words like "drubbing", it achieves nothing and does us no favours at all? Stendel's summary of the game is spot on and highly respectful of Wimbledon, even admitting that they were better than us at one point in the first half. Similarly, Wally Downes summary and everything I've heard from Wimbledon fans has been complimentary and respectful both in substance and tone. Yes, we were far the better team in the second half but can't we just find words that emphasise our strength and not ones that rub a respectful and competitive opponents face in it?
Why do we always have to be so respectful of opponents? We should have expected to thrash a poor side and that's exactly what we did. Nobody should have any problems with the wording.
Well, I do even if thought police like you aren't going to allow me to. And I think you'll find that Stendel and the players who have been interviewed were all very respectful of an opponent they know should have gone in in front at half time. Why our press team should not follow suit is the question for me. Nowt wrong with playing classy and describing it with class imho. .
Being confident about what we think our team are capable of against inferior clubs isn't being arrogant. We don't have to be like Millwall but these days rivalries aren't the same due to too much respect shown when we even know a team aren't that good.
