I find it bewildering. I thought when it became apparent that the recent (although actually not that recent) references to grove st were all to do with rebranding the programme, it would put some folk's mind at rest. But instead it seems to have heightened the fury! You're all daft. But it's mint and very funny. Btw, I like the new name whitey, well done.

'The club' own the majority of the club, but the Cryne family and council who they are going up against in court own Oakwell. All makes sense now :D

The only problem with that is that I said I like the new name for the programme.
So because your reply didn't make sense why is whitey renaming the programme as grove Street progress? What's the link there?

In my opinion it's a good marketing ploy ...it gets folk used to refering it to as Grove street rather than saying Oakwell ..in the long run it then waters down the resistance later and gets folk out of the habit of calling it oakwell .....it then makes the transition over to the new name should it happen further down the line easier .....less resistance from the fans to a name change....

Personally they can call it what the hell they want as long as the sponsorship money is invested into and benefits the club.....

Grove street sounds fresh and up to date....so well done the media team....
    Moving with the times....

Cool name. Would have preferred the Ponte End bit better than it was before. Conspiracy theorists please park the tin foil hats.

The interview with Gerhard is worth the three quid itself.

Thanks for the support. We won today by the way. Again. Haven’t conceded a goal at Oakwell in five games. Since it went behind closed doors. Makes you think.

Our programme has had several different names down the years. Our
registered address at Companies House, is Oakwell Stadium, Grove Street, Barnsley
South Yorkshire, S71 1 ET. Therefore personally speaking, I honestly don't see anything sinister
in renaming our matchday magazine Grove Street.

Whenever I've posted an edition of our programme to a member of my family either in the Midlands or
Poole in Dorset they have always e-mailed their thanks and they have unerringly commented on its interesting
content and excellent high quality. So long as those standards are maintained in the future, I honestly can't
    see a problem.

Oh wow, so I'm almost afraid to ask this ... the last time I bought one I think it was called Oakwell Review ...

When did it change to Be Red??

It was Oakwell Review when I was a lad for years. It was later called Reds. Then UReds. Then Be Red. All before my time.

If we'd called it Oakwell Review again, nobody would have batted an eyelid.

But it's got folk talking. And coming up with flat earth style conspiracy theories.

    Marketing 101.

Down the years the content in our programme has changed. I don't know who wrote it,
but when I first started supporting the Reds, one feature I always looked out for was
the match reports by " Tommy Tyke". It was written in broad Barnsley dialect and really
    used to make me chuckle.

One feature I would like to see in our present day matchday magazine, once fans are
allowed to attend games of course is a report on an away game written by one of our
fans who had undertook the trip away. It would be interesting to hear their comments
on the game and their whole matchday experience.

It all went wrong for him when he abandoned the written word and began working with visual material.
