Not in the Blades squad tonight. Is he injured of just out of contention? If it’s the latter I wonder if Hecky might do us a favour and let us have him on a season-long loan? Got to be a big improvement for us surely. Maybe he has personal issues but I’d love to see him back at Oakwell. Could be good for all parties.
Really can't see this happening. We all remember one player coming back & turning our season around. Adam Hammill. How many more have been abject failures & we couldn't cover his wages anyway? No way Hose.
I know he has the assault charge hanging over him but that could go the way Barton’s did, ie nothing until next year. I also know he’s a high earner but Sheff Utd could cover most of that while we help him back to his best. He’s well down the pecking order there so why not? Could be a great partnership with Norwood. Failing that I’ll say it yet again: Cole Stockton. I’d love to see him in our team.
Loved him when he was here and after seeing him for us I wasn't shocked to see him move for such a high fee a few years later. However, his attitude has been truly awful recently and has more criminal convictions than goals in recent seasons. Even if this was a remote possibility, I'd pass.
Mcburnie won't happen I don't think, he'd get offers from Championship clubs easily if they wanted him out on loan - I wouldn't want it to either with the criminal charge hanging over his head. Big risk. Cole Stockton isn't good enough - 33 league goals in 259 games before last season, don't want us spending a pretty penny on him for the sake of one decent season. Much rather it go to someone like Smith, Hurst, Joseph. Wouldn't mind him on a free, but definitely won't happen. If Duff thinks he's worth actually spending money on if he can maintain some form and actually score goals, then fair enough, definitely have to back him. But I'd be really disappointed if he's one of our main targets.
Oil McBurnie, the same Oli McBurnie that’s on at least £20k a week? Not a snowball’s chance in hell we’d be getting him on loan unless Blades are happy for us to just pay 5% of his wages.
He’s on more than that according to some sources, but who knows? I’m just clutching at straws and still disappointed that Dorrbee got Conor
He was great on loan to us but there's been a lot of water under the bridge since then , unfortunately most of it not in a good way.
Beginning to suspect our finances are a lot worse than we all thought. The fact we haven’t sold Styles and Helik means the rest of our recruitment will be on a pretty small budget.
With his attitude and behaviour I'd rather we wouldn't associate ourselves with him anymore. So that's a hard pass for me.
I know this is about Mcburnie but the part I can't get my head around is why we've offered deals to so many under 23's when we're skint. It must be we're frightened of missing sumat. The money spent on their wages could have strengthened the squad.
Either the academy has suddenly started churning out more first teamers or we can't afford to only pick the best out of them anymore. But even if we did have it I wouldn't be spending it on Mcburnie - think he's shot his bolt.
Regarding the costs. The club could run at a profit in League 2 just playing academy graduates with a smattering of experienced pros just here to get their coaching badges.
