Don't particularly like the guy. But I see where he is coming from. The amount of bad decisions either way are ridiculous.
its the bit when he says players who have experienced "The Warfare".... was there any real need for that.
Football is like that though sometimes. Ill tempered and niggly. You only had to watch Liverpool and Chelsea last night to see how Hazard wound up Henderson.
He's got a point. More should be done to get ex players into the refereeing game. You would expect the standard of officials to vastly improve if they have played the game first hand themselves.
Anyone read his book? Still not keen on the bloke but i thought it shows hes got alot more about him than i initially thought. Made alot of bad desicions in his past theres no denying that.
And that makes him a tit. ? It's an exaggeration of a word mate. Have you never used the phrase that was rieght BATTLE today in reference to a football match. I don't like the overuse of HERO but accept it . Footballers Heroes my arse. But on occasion used it in in describing my Heroes Futch. Macca. The King. Ronnie etc.
It's a complete and utter embarrassment for anyone in sport to make any kind of comparison to war. Young Henderson getting ready to go over the trenches for the 10th time: he's lucky to have the opportunity as all those he enlisted with have already been killed. Oh what a lucky boy.... ( take a look at the last 20 minutes of the NZ V SA rugby match from a couple of weeks ago if you want to see sport at it's most brutal, but fair).
The problem with any idea such as this is that some ex pros don't know a genuine foul from simulation which is demonstrated on Match of the day every week.
I listened to it on Audible - he reads it himself. Found it a fantastic listen and really shows he’s done well and works hard. Acknowledges he’s not the most skilful player, but worked hard to make up for it and very fit. A few stupid decisions in the past, But most recent stuff is media spin or b-s.
But they're not making a comparison are they? Not really. It's just speaking figuratively. Nothing embarrassing about it, it's what people do on a regular basis.
It feels like some of them have a vested interest in protecting the reputation of cheats. Everyone can see cheating and simulation but some ex pros defend it and make excuses for the players.
There is definitely a bias in refereeing towards the bigger teams. I can't see in this instance that Barton has said anything wrong. Mourinho says worse stuff every week. Appealing decisions seems largely to be a waste of time. Referees are likely to side with other referees, unless there is a very obvious **** up.
