You're right, the Man Utd result was never in doubt. If I remember right, George Best got the first around 20-odd minutes with a shot from the edge of the penalty area past Bobby Williamson in The Reds' goal. I think Denis Law got two and the other (I'm really struggling now) was David Herd ? There was a picture on the back page on one of the Sunday newspapers the next day of Eric Brookes laid on The Reds' goal line, propped up on his elbow with his head on his palm looking totally pissed off with Denis Law turning away with his classic one-hand-in-the-air pose having hammered the ball into the net.

Aaah, memories - jumpers for goal posts eh?

Remember him well. Left football relatively early in his footballing career to concentrate on his trucking business. Later bought Carlecotes Hall from the Morgan-Giles family, and opened up the gardens for various functions. A very nice, unassuming man. RIP

Had to go and visit him at Carlecotes Hall when I got married 1st time as church is in the grounds. Was great to meet him.

The goals at Scunny were scored by Eddie O'Hara and John Byrne who also scored two in the replay which we won 3-2. He looked back on these games in a wonderful article for My Time in Football.

Thanks for that - just goes to show how memory fades over time. At least I got the Eddie O'Hara scoring right!

My good friend Gary is Duncan Sharp's son.

I pointed him in the direction of this website so that the family could see that Duncan was held in high esteem by Barnsley fans.

They were made up to read the comments on here, and send their thanks to everyone.

Duncan had been suffering from Alzheimer's and Dementia for the last 6 years, and sadly had little recollection of his life, although he did recognise his family.

Ah, that's nice to hear Cambs. It's awful losing someone like that but when you hear that their loved one was so well thought of it must give them a good feeling.
