What a sad carry on that you can't accept open debate and have to change posts

None of your posts have been changed as far as I can see.

In fact, I'm pretty sure it's not even possible to change them on this system without the 'Edited at xx.xx' text showing up at the bottom, even if you're an admin.

No point in having a debate when my words are changed.

As I said earlier please delete my account

Remember when you and my brother had a spat on Radders Chatroom and agreed to meet in the Outpost to 'sort it out'? We all nodded said 'alreight' and shook hands. I was 'Chinners' back then.

Heady days. I miss em. I think we had a pint and forgot about it.

Your brother is the size of a small high rise building if I remember correctly.

It was from memory 95 ish when it started. Though to be fair the mid 90s are a bit of a going out booze filled blur so could have been a bit later. Definitely was going by the middle of the promotion year as me and merde Tetes dad set up a fanzine after 'meeting' on it.

I probably posted on here during IT at school, then I moved on to the BBC 606 forum after a bit of a gap. Joined FM when that shut down, but the changes to the site and lack of contributors drove me away.

Late 90's. The board was on the first official site in the early days of that. I Needed something to stop me w******g once our lass had gone out and this site would make your urge disappear pretty quickly!

I've been Pompey_red I think for the most part, moved from Pompey to pretty much nearer Southampton in 1999 however :)

I used to post on the old 606 forum but got banned before it was closed. I started reading the BBS because my kid brother was posting; I liked it so I signed up.

Most of the reasons I decided to join BBS and not Footy Mad have been mentioned by others elsewhere.
The one about interaction with rival fans was an interesting one. A few weeks ago there
was an extensive string involving a Millwall fan. It got very heated and insults were being traded on a daily basis.
I would have thought a Moderator might have stepped in but when I looked a little closer it transpired that the Millwall
poster was actually a Millwall site Moderator.!! Some of the things he was saying about our guys were unbelievable.
In fairness though some of the things our fans were saying back to him were pretty bad as well.!

Another reason I decided not to join FM was that it seemed to be the exclusive domain of a clique of long standing posters
and whilst new posters might appear from time to time, quite often it seemed to me that their views were either trivialised
or ignored which can eventually lead to them losing interest.

The other reason like someone else has said , were the adverts. They are so annoying. I know you can download something to block those out but why should you have to mess about doing that.?

The thing I like about the BBS is that it caters for diverse opinion. We have optimists ( like myself), pessimists and realists and
whilst some threads can get quite heated we generally end up with an articulate, well reasoned and in the main tolerant viewpoint on most things.

From personal experience the best part for me is that newcomers are warmly accepted into our on-line fans community and to my mind from what I've seen that doesn't happen too often on the other board.

In truth I've never considered joining any of the other forums. My good friend @Sheriff got me interested in the BBS, and after following as a guest for quite a while, I took the plunge. Not sure whether what I post is of any interest whatsoever, but I do value the reasoned and balanced posts. Agreeing with such posts or not is a normal part of life, not right or wrong, and by and large this board is pretty civil and respectful IMHO.

I've known Gally since our university days so this was always the site I went to.

I lurked for a couple of years but only started posting to vent my anger at Davey's appointment immediately after an inept loss to Wednesday (the infamous Robbie Williams in central midfield game).

Shepherd's arrogant reply to my email to him caused a bit of a debate at the time so it turned out to be a good opening post topic to have chosen.
