Lets look back again eh and think about our squad when we last went down at this level, in season 2013-14.
And I like to look back and share memories on here a lot, in case you all havent already noticed lol..
So what do we remember about that squad and the departures in the summer of '14 ?
I remember Luke Steele & Chris O'Grady were amongst the first to go, and I couldnt believe Jacob Mellis & Tommy Cwyka both going to Blackpool, and what a shock they were both in for eh lol.

I can remember not being fussed about relegation. We had been close so many times, and we weren't comfortability holding our own.

Went to boro on the last day to see only my 3rd relegation, and came away feeling a bit of relief that it was over.

Thats a horrible feeling I agree Fitz, but there is some truth to the idea that relegation can be a 'long term' bonus.
And speaking again of our players who left us in those days for a struggling team like Blackpool, David Perkins left us in the new year for them. And can we really say we missed him ?

Relegation came as a relief to me. I'd gone through a period where I was going home and away for 7 years and felt thoroughly miserable, demoralised and depressed. The club, the board and the fans seemed to have embraced the Keith Hill 'vision' of being happy to scrape survival. I dreaded going to a morgue like Oakwell and seeing has beens and bever has beens like Dawson, Kennedy, Shea etc playing for us.

I felt that relegation would give us time to regroup and reenergise and come back reenergised with a different plan. Unusually I was right.

    Onwards and upwards.

I think we've seen just how bad that squad was hindsight.

Could be wrong but I think only O'Grady, Cranie & Steele are doing anything with their careers right now.

Wiseman, Kennedy & Mellis all dropped down the leagues.

Frimpong gone from one disaster to another.

Perkins out of his depth at championship level this time round.

Our youngsters Rose & Noble-Lazarus gone backwards.

Shea, McCourt, Proschwitz into obscurity somewhere

I think they are the Only 3 that would be in contention for today's team ( well maybe Kennedy if we think Elder is a left back )

Only O'Grady would really make a difference though

    Probably right.

Toss up between Davies & Steele.

Cranie in at right back & O'Grady would certainly play up front.

Much as I loved him when he was here, O'Grady's scoring record has been absolute dogger since he left us. Makes Tom Bradshaw look prolific.

I agree, but I still think he's the type of player we could have done with with to assist our current strikers.
