Hate teams that do it. Should automatically face relegation arghh...although decision making was awful tonight! Let’s hope for better on Saturday Coyr
I think they gave up trying to score in the second half. Fair play, they got a point, but dreadful to watch.
Hard to break darn, came to spoil and they did it well, but foook me who's introduced all the dilly dallying at the back, heart attack tactics.
Teams like these should get points deducted for killing football, it's not as if their desperate for a point, to come to grounds like ours and produce this absolute garbage and then act as if it's some sort of victory is beyond description. noticed some of our lads didn't shake hands at the end.. reminds me of a boxing match wer one covers up and holds for 12 rounds then tells everyone they went 12 rounds with someone far better. One day in the future wen wer up there al look at the league tables to see Burton get relegated to the conference ...and have a little smile.
Really frustrating we seemed to either dally on the ball and let them hound us or put a sloppy pass out . We had no ideas and I think Dougall should have been on ten fifteen minutes earlier .
I don't get why they feel they need to play anti football like that. Its not as if they are desperate for a point, they clearly are not going to go down and neither are they going up. Marooned in mid table, season over in February. So why not express themselves and see what happens. Glad I am not a Burton fan if that is what they face watching. F'king awful.
To be honest I thought they would play as they did and said so in a previous thread... although I did say I expected us to lose.... That said I thought to add insult to injury whilst Burton were poor we unfortunately weren't much better.. I thought we looked tired and sluggish at times., we lacked ideas on how to break them down nervous at times at the back and the midfield were guilty of overplaying as daft as it may seem... Congratulations must be afforded to the Burton team and cloughie junior who stuck and carried out their plan to perfection.. Which admittedly didn't make for good viewing but gained them a valuable point to add to their collection....constructive criticism would suggest the next time a team park the bus and we can't break teams down like tonight then I would suggest long high balls straight down the throat on goal and crowd the keeper hoping something drops that's affords us some sort of advantage..... Something we didn't try at all tonight ......overall marks out of 10....6..... poor show in my eyes
Surprised at this thread. Yes they came to nullify us, but it would have helped if we could string two passes together in their half. We played badly, that's all.
Hope they get dragged in to a relegation battle. Horrible football to watch. They looked shattered after half an hour and never looked like trying to score. The rare time they got a corner they would have four back defending on the halfway line protecting the keeper and moved their big centre forward to left back.
I thought Burton defended brilliantly & Clough got his tactics spot on. Although we were the only team to play football, they could have nicked it in the end, we had run out of steam. Yes & it was very poor to watch for most of the second half.
Apparently Barnsley Council failed to issue a parking ticket on the bus that got parked at Oakwell last night. How they missed the amount of double yellow lines we witnessed is beyond me... A spokesperson for the council responded by saying our parking attendants finish at 5 and due to someone.... who we don't know... waving a magic wand and making all the problematic parking issues in the Borough disappear we can't comment further
Not sure where all this Park the bus comes from. In the first 15 minutes they had 4/5 corners. Wouldn’t let us out of our own half. Once we got control of the game they were given no option but to defend. Bit different to parking the bus. A term that’s generally used to defend and nullify at all costs.
Just wait until we're next in the Championship. We won't be going to Leeds or Villa and attacking, I wouldn't think. And if we can hold out for a 0-0 draw, I'll be fvcking ecstatic. It ain't pretty, but football is not an entertainment business.
