What makes you sit there as opposed to equivalent seat in the east? Also have you sat there since before the east existed or relatively recently?
A number of reasons for myself, father and brother. - more room to move about - can hear players conversations - can give opposition players banter - funny camaraderie between everyone - different view of the pitch - witnessing Dyson telling everyone to calm down. And last but not least, p****** up a brick wall.
I love it there at the start or end of the season for all the above reasons, plus the fact that the rest of the stadium looks awesome from there. Have sat there in winter once and it wasn't much fun!
Woah woah woah hang on a minute. The west stand in winter is a bit too cold for you? As opposed to Russia which is well known for its hot weather?
Just got to keep moving here! Which you can't really do in the lower West Stand. I might get carted away if I stood there dancing on the spot. By the way, Zenit's new stadium has an ambient temperature of 15 degrees with the roof on, even if it's -20 outside, which is pretty impressive.
Their stadium has central heating? You could always do the birdie song dance. That's apparently quite popular with some of the BBS west stand sitters
Iv sat everywhere but the west stand lower just feels closer to the action, i like to see the reactions of the dugout etc. Easy access in and out of the ground aswel
View of the stadium better from west stand. It's nice and cosy. Better protected from the weather. Seem to get older folk in so nice atmosphere. Historic structure and I like old buildings. In the past used to be in the Brewery Stand. Would be heartbroken if they pulled down the west stand.
My mate sits in the West Stand. I asked him the same question and he said he'd moved from the East because he was surrounded my moaners at the time. Tried summat different and stayed in the upper west.
I sit second row from the back of the west stand lower, not too far from the halfway line and the view is really great. I also get to look at the nice 3 stands instead of the one I sit in haha
Every seat on the east upper front row is taken or single seats, I think front row on the lower level is too low down, being sat on the front row upper level is absolutely perfect for little kids, no one can block their views by standing or being really tall, and the west isn’t as far for them to walk ether.
Despite a lot of positives there are a few negatives.. - crap weather, your open to it all and you need a big coat and to be wrapped up. - no alcohol at half time - sales would go through the roof if the introduced this next season.
I had a season ticket in the West Lower to the left of the away dugout in 97/98, then in the West Upper for 98/99, followed by circa 14 years in the Pontefract Road End before moving back to the West Lower where I now sit. In amongst those years I’ve also sat in the North Stand, East Upper abs East Lower on occasion whether it be to watch friendlies, FA Cup, League Cup, JPT or the England U19/21 games. For me nothing compares to the West Lower. The atmosphere is often maligned by those who sit elsewhere but the support is actually rather vociferous at times and certainly isn’t the place that fans go to die as some appear to believe. I echo everything that HBT says above save for the part re Dyson as I’m at the opposite side.
