Heady days at the Top Rank around that time. I also remember quite vividly seeing The Clash, The Stranglers, and The Banshees all perform there in their punk heydays.

I saw the Stranglers there, also can remember seeing Dave Edmunds Rockpile and Lew Lewis Reformer (great performer I think he played with the feelgoods occasionally) also remember seeing Lena Lovich at the poly.

I also saw the Clash and the Banshees there plus Sham 69 and a few others...there were loads from Barnsley Tech went.
I've been racking my brains to think who the support bands were...I remember Spizz Energi having the plastic beer glasses thrown at them...they were sh**e...as were The Slits...best support I remember was Cabaret Voltaire.
The Limit had some great bands on too, Echo & The Bunnymen, Dead Kennedy's...most of the others were lost in a mist of bottled Guinness...one that sticks out though was the Canadian kid Nash the Slash...I didn't expect much but he was fantastic.

Happened to be playing a pop-punk type set yesterday at a wedding at Allerton Castle.
Got "Ever Fallen In Love" in there.

Yes, went to the Limit Club a lot round then. Even saw U2 play there, when they were good.
