No I didn't. I said he 'comes across' as having serious mental issues (after he mentioned a hospital wing). You are now presuming he does have. I think he is just a bit silly, and opinionated with it.

Yes. Look up the definition of the word. Placed under pressure by their bosses in the Police Federation to change statements. It's the Federation and those in charge of the sorry affair that need to be criminally punished - not the rank and file.

However, your prejudice against the police, and most likely any form of authority is obvious, so we are never going to agree. It speaks volumes about you, when in my earlier post I actually provided you with a factual example of a former police officer who is every bit as disgusted as the general public at the conduct of his former employers. However, because that positive perception didn't fit with your agenda against all police officers you resorted to abuse.

I think everyone is bored of this thread now anyway, so let's just agree to disagree.

I'm not presuming he has at all. You don't joke about mental health issues in making leading statements like yours.

He brought the mental issue up with the reference to the hospital wing, I carried that on. Get a grip. Thanks for the morality lesson though.

I know what the word means, I'm just wondering how so many 'good men and women' allowed their statements to be changed, and sat quietly for 2 decades without speaking out about it. I'm sure many more people who knew those officers got to know too, yet they all stood by and allowed innocent people to be tarnished with lies. As police they all had a duty to 'protect and serve' the people. Yet they didn't have the courage to speak up. As I said, the operator of the police in protecting their own is often at the expense of the people who pay their wages. Shame on them all, top to bottom.

Can we please stick to Japanese sexual fetishes than rip each others throat out over the (In)competence of the police?

Oh and for the record I like authority, when people with knowledge and intelligence use it wisely and with respect. I have no time for people in authority who weild power with wrecklessness just because they are in a position to do so. Sadly the police force has far too many of the later - officers who in any other walk of life you wouldn't trust with a water pistol, never mind a tazer, or baton.

If you want to know why so many "good me and women" allowed their statements to be changed I'd do some reading around the Milgram Study and the Zimbardo Prison Experiment. Both explain how authority figures change the feelings of ordinary people, and pressure them into actions they would not normally do.

Interestingly, the Milgram study was set up to prove that Nazi guards in concentration camps were evil people and not just "following orders". The findings shocked the whole world.
