Maybe they will negotiate those points spread out at one point a season.....for the next nine, that will teach em!!!
Didn’t their embargo involve a cap on what salary they could offer? Suspect Drinkwater isn’t on anything like what he’s been on previous, probably on something even within our wage structure (not that I’d particularly want to sign him).
You are basing your comments on assumptions but the one certain fact is that he would be on a good screw at Chelsea & no doubt Reading will not be getting him for nothing , I know its all about opinions but I think he would have been ideal for us , he would have brought the experience to the team that the HC said he wanted plus he knows our club & fans which would have been a positive , all I know is that a club under a current embargo have brought in a quality premier league player who will be on a fat salary , what embargo ?
They will get away with it yet again just like Wendy's they both got away lightly last year and they have both done it again, they should take a leaf out of Scotland and relegate them to the lowest league like they did to Rangers, but the EFL haven't got the bottle it's time they grew a pair
I thought that at a sentencing hearing the court looks at all the circumstances surrounding the guilty verdict and decides upon a suitable punishment. I didn't know that they and the convicted person sat down and negotiated between them what the two deem an acceptable punishment.
Well not exactly, but we also don't know what the discussions between the EFL and clubs looks like. But a sentencing trial will generally feature one side arguing that the punishment should be harsher and one side arguing that it should be more lenient. Not really that much different.
He's a bit of a loose cannon for me . He's had a fair few problems off the field. He's got plenty of baggage we can ill afford. Much sooner take a punt on young hungry players like Gomes ,as much as I would like a bit of experience. Matty James was my punt.
I genuinely didn't know that the defending side got to argue that the sentence was too high. I thought that it was solely the court who decided and if the defence wasn't happy hey could put in an appeal later
Would be interesting to know if Reading would be volunteering like this for a deduction had they accrued only a point from their first 7 games? As it is they might possibly take the hit and survive. Some 'punishment' eh? Clubs are not only gambling their very existence on chasing the PL riches, it seems to me they are now also gambling against the very punishment meted out after the chase failed.
Normally the prosecution and defence will raise points that could lead to harsher or more lenient sentences. The decision is ultimately up to the judge of course, but it's part of a defence team's job to raise things like no previous convictions, any mitigating circumstances etc. or anything that could convince the judge to issue a lesser sentence.
