Would snap your hand off for any of them!! We were in for Hughes in January... https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.bi...ton-villa-premier-league-chester-12358806.amp Would also like to think we're going back in for Mahoney & McGeehan. Sure the majority of the players on our list won't have been mentioned! Just the way I've enjoyed it the last couple of years. Hopefully we also have a few deals lined up......!
None of those, if we could afford them, but Bradley Dack is due a step up soon. Not had such a good season with Gillingham. Wouldn't mind Isgrove on a free if he isn't asking too much in wages. Brownhill wants out from Bristol City and could replace Scowen. Not sure who the best full backs are outside of Prem and Champ but we need a left and right. Even if White has another season. Wildsmith is out of contract at Wednesday I think in summer. Reckon he would be brilliant understudy to Davies. And push him for starting spot
The names mentioned above are a throw-back to a previous recruitment policy. I would stick with the one which is current and has seen us do so well (on the whole) in the transfer market. With the players already gone and the possibility of others leaving also over the summer, we should be blitzing the lower leagues for the best talent and I hope we are. The most important contract will be Hecky's and most of the backroom staff, however. If the coaching staff is decimated we will be in greater trouble, but I trust this coaching/scouting staff to do a good job within financial constraints over the summer and bring a refreshed squad to the start of the new championship season. Just wish we knew that the board was sorted first, though.
Based on our transfer policy. Jack Rose (West Brom) Ryan McLaughlin (Oldham) Amari'i Bell (Fleetwood) Lloyd Jones (Liverpool) Semi Ajayi (Cardiff) Hakeeb Adelakun (Scunny) Brennan Dickenson (Colchester) Sean Murray (Colchester) Ollie Clarke (Bristol Rovers) Dominic Poleon (Wimbledon) Jack Redshaw (Blackpool) Ashley Hunter (Fleetwood) Massive rebuilding job.
I find it increasingly difficult to predict any signings largely because if they are on my radar, they are undoubtedly on bigger clubs' radars too! But here's a few ideas... I liked the look of the Blackpool winger, Bright Osayi-Samuel. Ripped us apart and has notched a couple more very good goals since. Perhaps Brad Potts from the Seasiders as well? Josh Morris at Scunthorpe looks a player, perhaps too similar to Mowatt/Moncur but he's banged the goals in this year. Ollie Watkins at Exeter might be a shout, seems our kind of player. I'd be happy to re-sign Janko and Kent personally. Plus a couple of quality loan signings from the Premier League. Not a scattergun approach of randomers, but could we look at an Izzy Brown or the next Ashley Fletcher? Just one player who could do so much and lift those around him. I'd like to see a Lloyd Dyer type player as well, someone with a bit of experience but young enough to add to the vibrancy of the team. We obviously need more than I've suggested, but all relevant names have been nominated already.
I think a good indicator of the players we'll be after could probably be taken from League 1 and 2's teams of the year. Basically any of the players named in those under the age of say 25 we'll probably at least be linked with. Connor Ripley - Oldham (on loan from Middlesbrough) 24 year old goalkeeper Conor McLaughlin - Fleetwood, 25 year old right back (Ryan's brother) Erhun Oztumer - Walsall, 25 year old midfielder. Josh Morris - Scunthorpe, 25 year old midfielder. Christian Burgess - Portsmouth, 25 year old defender. Sonny Bradley - Plymouth, 25 year old defender. Brad Potts - Blackpool, 23 year old midfielder. John Marquis - Doncaster, 24 year old striker. Matthew Godden - Stevenage, 25 year old striker. Ollie Watkins - Exeter, 21 year old striker. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
A couple of names I'm really surprised not to see on this thread are: Conor McAleny - had a good spell at Wigan and has been terrific in the latter part of this season for Oxford. He's 24 so will surely be looking to move on for first team football. Diminuitive, quick and with an eye for goal, could be a useful acquisition. Brad Potts - been a real driving force in Blackpools assault on the playoffs. Can score goals from anywhere and gets plenty of assists. George Cooper - been in fine form for Crewe this season, providing plenty of assists from midfield and chipping in also. John Marquis - scored for fun this season for Doncaster. Matty Godden - scored 20 goals this season for Stevenage. They only signed him on a 1 year deal after he netted nearly 50 times in 90 games for Ebbsfleet. Could be worth a punt.
Jason Lowe - Blackburn - 25 - 180 appearances - defensive midfielder (also RB) - out of contract this summer. He's the type of midfielder we haven't got. He'd be a great signing if we could afford his wages.
I can't understand why anyone would be against resigning Kevin Long. I don't think anyone would argue that he outperformed both Roberts & Mawson during his loan spell, he's still young, has a good injury record & left (as far as I know) on good terms. Have I missed something? I don't get what's not to like about having him back?
we were linked with Sam Hughes from Chester City in January. 19 year old centre back. I think players like this are more likely signings.
Great shout that. For a winger he gets about 20 goals and 20 assists a season! He's 25 so hopefully ready for League football. And a free transfer.
I remember us signing a winger from the lower end of non league who turned out to be a bit special, Martin Bullock. What I am trying to say , you should never judge a player because of who he is playing for, some slip under the radar.
