I see after a poor performance the usual suspects are out dragging the team. Could it be maybe, that after a tough week of games it is catching up with our squad (minus 2 of the better recent performers). Let’s face it they have players out of their squad that would walk into our team. Bringing on Adeboyajo (no offence to him) sums up the task the manager has got. but of course it’s about the way he’s set the team up. im certainly not saying we shouldn’t be disappointed that we haven’t performed as well a hoped/in the last 2 games but I think there needs to be a semblance of realism about our situation (budget reasons mostly). When we are paying loan fees like they are and leaving players on the bench/out of the squad like they are then I think it’s fair to give them some hammer. Until then I’m not so sure.
Brittain, Woodrow, Williams all out. Probably our 3 best players so far this season. It was always going to be tough, but we've not been very good at all. We go again.
Reminds me of the Stoke game last season bullied out of the game concede an early goal and never really in the game. Lets just hope we can bounce back on Saturday then go in to a 2 week break and recover our mojo
I mean, Cardiff have played the same number of games as us... They're a team of big fkers who we're always going to struggle against. But then thats because we've done nothing to beef up the side since Moore left 3 transfer windows ago.
The writing was on the wall as soon as the teams were announced. The best we could have hoped for was a 0-0 draw, and that went out of the window after 3 minutes. Woodrow, Williams, and Brittain marauding down the wing would at least have given Cardiff something to think about.
We're playing a different strategy now though - kick the ball up the pitch to little blokes marked by big blokes. How will that ever work?
I agree and disagree. I agree that the sale of Moore was a poor one and we seemed to get below market value (but what do I know about what that is?) but I think replacing him with someone of similar quality had been harder than the club thought. This is their mistake but then by the same token had Moore not been allowed to leave then we would have likely suffered because of that in terms of his performance/received value. I think there is a good chance we attract the players we do because they know we will allow them to move. So it’s a double edged sword in that way. For me I’d have rather kept him but understand why we didn’t and am also happy we aren’t overpaying someone who isn’t up to the job of replacing him. Also I think we would’ve lost tonight’s we had him on our team anyway!
FACT. Absolutely paper thin forward line. subs Miller Vic both not up to the Championship in any sense of the word. They both must feel like they are dreaming being in a Championship squad. Not their fault but hell fire this cant be allowed to continue if we expect to remain competitive. Because with injuries we will find it very difficult to score. Will the board back Val???
The bits I saw where we were passing it, ball just seemed to go to a blue shirt anyway. It really wasnt our night.
I'm worried after seeing Valeries tactics in first three games. What was he thinking with that team selection tonight. Why didn't we try and attempt to score? It was pathetic. We were ***** for 25 minutes against QPR, then crap v Watford reliant on guilt edged misses and found out tonight. We'll get nowt Saturday too.
Dont get too enthusiastic Stephen! Tbh, if we had somehow got a win against Cardoff I'd have thought he was versed in the dark arts!
If I didn't love messaging on this forum so much i'd say see you Saturday. Derby will tear us a new one.
Can't fully agree. The club and players can rightly accept our plaudits for the likes of the last 2 games, then they can sure as hell take some stick for performances like tonight. Especially when I have paid and given up my evening. I reserve the right to critique. However, it is one match, so let's re-set and start again at the weekend. But that was truly like Jose Morais had come back and put our U18s out.
But don't you remember watching game after game where we bamboozled rich fancy teams with how we could play it round and through them? We often didn't win cos we were doggo up front, but at least it was nice to see. Remember Brentford? We gave as good as we got, away from home that needed character from all the players? That's gone straight down the pan.
Spot on assessment. I thought it was Spackmanesque tonight. Had he told every player they were walking home if they had a shot?
It’s nonsense like this that really annoys me (and trust me i was already annoyed with the result/performance) I’m pretty sure we did try to score. It’s just that it didn’t work out tonight. And now that means we’ll get nowt on Saturday too! Which obviously we might not but tonight has nothing to do with! And a new manager had a tough first 25 mins in his first game (he did but the we were excellent) and then beat a team with Watfords budget (but apparently only won because they missed chances (like every football game ever!)) I’m not suggesting everything is rosy or the manager is the new mourinho but this Is like a daily mail headline of a response to a loss.
True but remember we're Barnsley. Cardiff weren't nothing special, thought tonight team selection and approach played into their hands.
