Just a minor point, but a relevant one.The players aren't the only ones on the payroll.

1000 free kids, more cheap kids and more pensioners than most clubs too.

The club tell us every year that st numbers are made up with proportionately more concessions than a lot of other clubs.

Very true. But the issue at the moment is how do we stay competitive in this mini Premier League? We are so far off. As someone above said, you probably wouldn't pay all your players top dollar, but in reality the hypothetical figure I suggested is below what Winnowl is getting and considerably below Conor. We entered this league this season on the crest of a wave, with the likes of Mawson and Hourihane and the promise of Bree. Maybe things will be sorted in the next four weeks, but we're an awful long way behind where we were last May.

It is frustrating, as a fan, that we don't pay top dollar to sign proven talent. It's also comforting that we're not about to follow Coventry, Blackburn, Portsmouth etc.
    It is a fine line.
    An interesting summer ensues...

Something interesting I learnt this season is that each free kids ticket actually costs the club money as they have to pay a levy to the Football league for each season ticket "sold". Madness eh?

Int it strange that Barnsley has more under twelves and more pensioners than any other town or city in the country.

It's probably a conspiracy by the club's owner Conan. Keep plucking "facts" from nowhere and repeat ad nauseum

It is summat that was also told to me directly by someone who was involved with the club before Patrick who I trust. I'm not sure why it should be so but it is right.

Engagement with the community during/after the strike and before the promotion season was a disaster, wasn't it? Did we do really badly on the recruitment of a generation of kids? Probably a factor. A high cost of football, relatively poor area compared to elsewhere might also mean more abuse of the system. We've made a concerted effort to attract kids to the club with the U12 tickets over the last 5 years or so although I know that the unusual demographics of our fans was known before then as at one point Don Rowing ordered a crack down on concessionary ticketing sales when the numbers were compared to other Championship clubs.

Genuine question, not just paddying at the state of football - why? Do matchday tickets also have one? If you know, like...
