Yes my parents are friends of theirs and live a few doors down Hunters Ave from them. They and John always buy my daughter and her cousins a present at Christmas

I remember the first time I met Trelford, he had agreed to play in a 2nd team game for Stainborough CC away at Hundhill Hall and I drove him to the game. The only words I spoke as he got in the car was to ask one question about his refereeing career, he was still answering it as we arrived at the ground! His stories were full of warmth, wonderfully told and his many anecdotes involved the great and the good of football. He spoke as a genuine lover of both football and cricket. I had the pleasure of getting to know him a little over the years, particularly driving around the back waters of Bradford trying to catch Barnsley CC’s Heavy Wollen fixtures. I had a good old laugh to myself recalling some of his memorable moments as the MC at the cricket dinner, where he formed a superb double act with the late Ken Green. One time during head and tails they somehow managed to lose the coin, much amusement from the audience ensued, followed by the line "it's in the sugar bowl Ken" . To use one of his own phrases he was “different class”. RIP.

Came across this today - purely by coincidence. It shows the kind of games that Trelford Mills regularly took charge of - 1981/82 Man Utd v Arsenal
