Fights like this worth every penny. It's Mexican good,Reckon they've been fed Old El Paso whilst growing up lol!
4+ rounds is exceptionally harsh scoring. Bit of home town help there it seems. Although Ritson did win it for me. Cheeseman vs Fitzgerald was a decent fight. Right result in that one too. Cheeseman wilted after round 7.
It was a brilliant fight. 116-112 Ritson for me but wouldn’t argue with 115-113. Instead of appreciating a brilliant domestic fight what was all that world title nonsense about afterwards? He wouldn’t stand a chance against Taylor or Prograis.
That’s Eddie Hearn counting his pennies by taking that fight to St James’ Park. The winner of the Taylor/Prograis fight will be due a mandatory so why not take one that makes a ton of cash?
It just annoys me that everyone who wins a British title fight seems to get pushed towards a world title shot & most of the time are way out of their depth. Ritson could be in loads of good British / European title fights but instead the plan seems to be for him to get splattered in a couple of rounds by Josh Taylor for a pay day
I think he’s a bit better than that mate. Not saying he would win, but an off night for the opponent and the boost of St.James Park behind you? Anything can happen. I don’t think he’d be disgraced now he’s fighting at a more comfortable weight, but not sure he can be considered world level yet. I don’t have an issue with it personally. They should be backing themselves to win at world level after mopping up domestically
I think he’d be way out of his depth. Taylor to me is about the best British fighter we’ve got. He’s certainly in the discussion with Smith, Warrington, Saunders & Fury. I think Ritson would have several losses if he’d fought Taylor’s opposition.
Maybe. But I also think, at this weight, he’d have been in every one of those fights at some point before eventually being outclassed. I think as a mandatory it’s a good fight. Looking it from that perspective rather instead.
