Due to having a boring afternoon at work, i got to thinking about the differences between the following puddings Number 1 Sago Number 2 Semalina Number 3 Tapioca and last but certainly not least number 4 Rice Pudding. What are the differences between these puddings? As i remember them as all being very similiar at school. I would be most grateful for any help received
sago : A starch extracted from the sago (and other tropical) palms that is processed into flour, meal and pearl sago, which is similar to tapioca. Tapioca is the root of the cassava plant, which is also known as manioc or arrowroot. Tapioca requires processing to withdraw either flakes, seeds or pearls of the Tapioca plant. Semolina is coarsely ground grain, usually wheat, with particles mostly between 0.25 and 0.75 mm in diameter. The same milling grade is sometimes called farina, or grits if made from maize. It refers to two very different products: semolina for porridge is usually steel-cut soft common wheat whereas "durum semolina" used for pasta is coarsely ground from either durum wheat or other hard wheat, usually the latter because it costs less to grow. Rice refers to two species (Oryza sativa and Oryza glaberrima) of grass, native to tropical and subtropical southeastern Asia and to Africa. Rice is an annual plant, growing to 1-1.8 m tall, occasionally more, with long slender leaves 50-100 cm long and 2-2.5 cm broad. The small wind-pollinated flowers are produced in a branched arching to pendulous inflorescence 30-50 cm long. The seed is a grain (caryopsis) 5-12 mm long and 2-3 mm thick. The word rice derives from the Tamil word arisi.
RE: Sago, Semalina, Tapioca and Rice Pudding.......hmmmmmm sad fecker, me.... I found that interesting...
Chuff me, you either had lots of time on your hands today to google to your hearts content or you are one sad bugger for knowing that in the first place. ff S)
No I used yahoo not google! Really hate it when people say "why don't you google it" - since when did google become a fecking verb?! And a very quick search on each word did it. I know there was a clear difference between rice and the other 3, but wasn't sure of the difference of those other 3 other than the texture
