I know people involved at Scunthorpe and they said he was a diva but they used a word that is in their name and not bell end
Hopefully I won't have to wait as long for your book as I've had to wait for Peter Doyle's book!! PS Merry Christmas YT!!
I couldn’t stand his attitude but the bloke could finish, I’m pretty confident that without his goals we wouldn’t be in the championship so from a pure footballing aspect we did pretty good out of him,
Good to hear his take on it on he podcast, but the guy completely burnt his bridges a year ago. If he’d gone in the way Conor did he’d still be a hero for us, but he didn’t so he’s a hate figure. Hopefully he’s learned a lesson from that.
Stop being so nice Royston. It's sickening. I'd like to see some abuse please Ps merry Christmas fella
Definitely the best goal scorer I’ve seen in my time watching the reds. But he’s a **** and shouldn’t be given the time of day by our club.
Well erm.....his beard looked a bit tatty, hows that? . same to you Marcus, all the best to you and yours fella
Not quite true, some did, some didn't. There was a small group of players who's attitude changed in January, some of them hadn't even been at the club thst long. That small group started making unessercery noise that I imagine made Heckys job much more difficult. I'll not say too much as I don't want to annoy the club by saying things on here that shouldn't be said but I guarantee you the club was 10000% right to sell Winnall and the Irish fella... we cleared out the stink.
Tom Pope not a big fan https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/foo...ar-tom-pope-in-bizarre-twitter-rant-1-8471930
Are you suggesting that the difference between Sam Winnall and Conor Hourihane was how they managed their own PR of their exits? I’ve not heard anyone say a bad word about Conor but you seem to suggest he was part of a “problem” in the dressing room? Be interested to hear more (DM if you don’t want to post in open.) genuinely interested. Cheers
Ye I’d like to know the same. I imagine the big problem would be you’d have Hourihane, Winnall, Bree, Watkins, Scowen etc all having their agents in their ears telling them how much they can get them elsewhere & all of them will have been talking about it with each other & what they can get from the club
Just shows you - it's not what you do, it's the way you do it. Connor was positively dignified compared to Sam Winnall. Sam has properly burned his bridges. Good finisher, not a team player, I'll never forget what he did in the playoffs - but I have no regard for him and I don't want him back.
Winnall deal broke all the red lines. And we can only blame the owners for that: 1) He was allowed to be sold to a Sheffield / Leeds team - which makes it more difficult for Barnsley to build a fan base. 2) He was sold for peanuts - because his contract was allowed to nearly run out. 3) He was sold when the club could least afford it e.g. In a relegation dog fight or promotion push. We were one point from the playoffs in 01/17. As for being a bit of a ******* - most strikers have that edge to them.
I adore Conor, he's one of the finest players I've seen in a reds shirt. However he is a puppet to his agent, like every single footballer in the country is. There are rumours thst Sam wasn't liked by the other players, that's not true. He was very popular with 90% of the squad, as was Conor. All I'll say is that a clique was formed. Lots of noise was made that wasn't helpful, agents had poisoned them. Are the club to blame? Yes, because they didn't offer contracts when they should have done. Certain players used this as ammunition to force a move. I can't say Conor was unprofessional on the pitch, because he was. He was professional onnth e training pitch too. It's what happened behind closed doors that wasn't so professional. At the end of the day that's the "new" football.
Listened to the latest Reds Report absolutely fantasic stuff keep up the good work whoevers in charge. Decent interviews I enjoyed the Lidds one, shocked to hear he put in a transfer request, his performances never gave any indication he wanted away full credit to him for that. Winnall spoke well however he contradicted himself MASSIVELY in my opinion. He says in January clubs showed interest in him and he had to make a "footballing decision". Well I'm sorry but leaving a team where you are guaranteed to start every week and realistically assured of probably 15 championship goals per season, a pivotal cog in the machine really, to join a squad where you have been promised to be a bit part player at best (and they will have told him he wasn't going to start every week) is not a sound enough "footballing reason". Wouldn't it be refreshing for a modern day player to admit why they actaully move clubs for once.
