I didn't hear the white people fighting for equality when they were the ones benefitting from privilege.

Did he get sacked, or did he have a contract which ran out and the broadcaster chose not to renew?

I like the show but it will be quite funny if the ratings plunge and they go back grovelling to him to return.

It appears on here some are happy to discriminate against white people because blacks have been discriminated against in the past i suppose a bit of " its pay back bitches" that isn't equality is it ? Personally doesn't matter what colour you are, it should be a case of the best person gets the job regardless of pigment, as there been discrimination in the past, absolutely and again its wrong but you can't adress discriminstion and equality issues by supporting reverse discrimination and inequality, just doesnt make sense to me

I don't disagree that in a utopia, their would be equality and acceptance of all, and where they are from, who they are, what they like are all irrelevant in the scheme of mobility and opportunity.

The sad truth is the world we live was built by white men for white men. There is still inequality based on gender, sexuality, race and culture.

How do you change a system that is inherently unfair and biased without removing those who play a key part in the preservation of that unequal system?

Personally I have always been for equality, what you are advocating isn't equality.

Believing in a principle doesn't change anything though does it?

Its a simple principle, everyone should be in agreement about it. But retaining the status quo doesn't get you closer to balance, fairness and equality.

Imagine hundreds of years of persecution. I don't think white people, men in particular have any grounds whatsoever to complain that black people are finally getting more assistance to gain rewards from their hard work. Still nowhere near enough, but hopefully true change may take hold... in some parts.

Still don't see your argument why somebody should lose their job on the principle of colour

My principle isnt that we should have a Zimbabweesque cull of white people. But, there will be attrition in job markets in the next few months/years and that paves an ideal opportunity to build a fairer world than sticking with the status quo.

You wouldn't begrudge a non white person getting a job they've applied for and shown to have the requisite skills for ahead of a white person with the same skills, would you?

It will be interesting to see who they get. If I was being told to flog myself to death by someone who couldn’t do it themselves regardless of my background I would be most Peed off. If they get it right it will be a success get it wrong though!

True equality will.be the best person for the job gets it. Can't wait until we get to that point. But to suggest we re there already is ridiculous.

Certainly not, that would be the best person for the role scenario, it was only the principle of dumping someone to fill a perceived quota, that I feel isn't right ( obviously if they weren't fulfilling that role suitably that would be different)

The problem with "best person for the role" scenario is that when white people recruit for a role, their biases, conscious or otherwise take over and discrimination occurs.

There have been loads of studies and tests where a recruitment process has been done blind and as a result, more non white males have found themselves into the filled position.

Without breaking the status quo, we just get more status quo. And frankly, I'm sick of seeing that pony tail! ;-)
