Set to join another Championship club. Confirmed by Heckingbottom. Good luck to him - gutted he's going.
Liked Scowen, but not as big of a loss as Hourihane or Watkins in my opinion. Confident we can find a suitable replacement. Good luck to him.
Out of all the players we have lost from his crop this is the most startling as, with no disrespect to Josh, he is the most "average" and we STILL cannot retain him. Let's hope D'Almedia is up to it...
I'm sure we'll find somebody to replace him, and like you say, he's not as big of a loss as Hourihane. Can't help but like Scowen, though, especially for his attitude. Good player at this level, and it's always good to see him kick somebody up in the air, every now and again.
In my mind. Our recent success has been more down to the balance of the team. Can't be underestimated. Him like a jack Russell gave CH and our wingers etc more licence to roam and play. He will be as big a loss as anyone IMO Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Shame as he was a good squad player who always gave 100% and could play in several positions Not as great a loss as Hourihane or Winnall but we need a player of his type. Id say similar impact to Watkins departing just hope we have a replacement lined up as we don't have one on the books at the moment that I am aware of
Never looked the happiest of players even after we'd won a game always seemed to be on his own clapping the fans after a game. Just my observation anyway a good player who will be missed
That would be my guess. Closer to home, probably offering daft money and a strong chance of getting game time there.
Shame to lose him but not disastrous. Him and Watkins were decent mid table type players for us but replaceable, losing Hourihane and Winnall were far bigger losses as would losing Angus, Roberts or Yiadom. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It would be nice to see a footballer put football before money, that's how club legends are created. Apart from who I expect to be the bookies favourites to be promoted like Newcastle last year, a move to any other club is for purely financial reasons, possibly at the expense of their footballing careers. Players like Scowen who was a regular in our side are going to find it much harder to nail down a place by going to a team such as QPR or Wolves just as examples who carry much larger squads. You could argue we have just as much chance of reaching the next tier as the majority of teams in the league. It's the effort on the pitch that will count at the end of the day.. So many times when players leave for a bigger wage in the same division it goes sour. They end up on the bench, pushed out by bigger money signings and then end up in a worse scenario for the sake of 12 months wages. I wish Scowen well and thank him for his services but I won't offer much sympathy if he ends up being a bench warmer in his prime years and ends up having to drop down divisions as a result. Moneys not everything, especially when at any championship club you are hardly a pauper.
All good players but replaceable. Just as we can't turn down offers for our players, neither can the club's we're approaching for theirs. We're all part of the food chain. Would be nice to be a bit further up the queue, but it is what it is and we're not near the wrong end. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
