    As many others have pointed out Williams was struggling Replacing him at left back with Fryers worked very well. Williams did much better in the midfield role after a slow start so Stengel got it spot on.
    As for the comments about squad depth. Be realistic we have Pinillos Fryers and Williams who are all decent LB who else would we sign. Same for CM where we have Dougall McGeehan Mowatt,Bahre Styles and at a push Fryers or Williams. You can’t expect to have a squad of players of the Calibre of Dougall McGeehan and Mowatt fighting over 2 places and then add another of similar calibre who is 4th choice not in L1

    Up front is the one area I think we are a player short. With Brown looking better suited to RM and Victor not currently good enough we are definitely exposed there. But that’s not relevant to the point of the OP

    My point wasn't about fryers playing left back. It was that a few months ago we had a few options off the bench in midfield to replace dougall. Now we have to resort to a full back there.

    I'm normally one to back the club on most things, but with hindsight, we probably should have signed a center mid once Potts and Moncur went.

    I don't buy the argument that they wouldn't come due to the number of center mids at the club already, we signed Dougall in the summer with 4 CMs already at the club.

    We've been unlucky to end up having McGheehan, Brown, Dougall, Pinnilos, and Moore out all at once, though. I don't think that could have really been planned for.

    International break next week, too! No Davies or Hedges...

    We have a plan that means we bring through youth from the u23's these are the back up players to cover for injuries etc. Atm we don't have any young players good enough to cover the front 2, that's where we should have strengthened in january imho.
