The board has said that this is what it will take to prize away any players who are under long contracts. With Lindsay, I'd say we got a very fair price considering his ability and contract situation. With Pinnock - the fee would seem disappointing considering his undoubted class, but his contract situation clearly worked against us. However, with Moore the ball is in our court to demand what we think he's worth, plus some extra on top. So, I'm just wondering if he were to leave, what sort of fee people would be happy with? For a striker who is nearly 27, so coming up to his prime. A player who you'd always want in your side due to his sheer awkwardness and what he brings to the team. However this is also a striker who has only ever had two big seasons for scoring goals, both in the 3rd division. A striker who misses a lot of sitters, and who has looked decidedly mediocre at second tier level. Looking at things objectively, he shouldn't be worth much more than £2 million quid, even in today's ridiculously inflated market. But he's under contract, and certain teams are known for paying inflated fees for players, especially if they themselves have recently received an inflated fee for one of their own players. So if I had anything to do with the sale, I'd probably start by asking for £7-8 million, just to test the water. But realistically, something around £4 million would represent a very good fee for Kieffer Moore. If we start getting offers closer to £5 or £6 million, I think we'd definitely be in the realms of "silly money", and would have to sell.
If we get enough to cover the transfer fee for Kone, I’d be happy. He’s a quality player to have in League One, but if his last outing in this division is anything to go by, he’s not quite up to this standard. He’d be a good option to have due to his presence, but if we start talking £3 million and above, then I’d certainly look to cash in.
We all seem to be wanting Moore out now to facilitate the potential purchase of someone weve never seen play. I think Moore would be good in the championship this time around, i seem to be one of only a few that thinks so mind. Id be sad to see him go, thought he was awesome last season. Cant argue with the business weve done at present tho.
I'm definitely not wanting Moore out. I'd love him to stay. However, there has to be a fee at which it is objectively sensible to sell him.
He made the difference to our side last season when he returned for the last few games, before that we were just drawing everything. Id like to keep him but id have also liked to keep Lindsay and Pinnock. 7m is about his value in the current market.
Even in the current climate, anyone considering paying seven million quid for Kieffer Moore would be absolutely insane. I don't think it will happen. However, if it did, I can't say I'd be completely shocked.
Moore should be worth at least £6m, what with him potentially being the difference between promotion back to this level or not, in the regrettable circumstance that we could again be relegated
On the one hand he didn't get many starts for Ipswich and he played in a Barnsley team that was struggling. On the other he does seem to miss some easier chances. We paid £850k(?) but which ever way you look at it he's unproven at Championship level. Kone looks decent but his scoring record isn't amazing in the 2nd tier of the German league with a goal every 2.5 games. IMO that's a risky 'swap' as you're also breaking up Moore's partnership with Woodrow. I'd say £1.5m is sensible if you're buying him, selling... anything over £3m is good money.
I'd love to dream but know way is he worth 5 million, he's a good footballer but he misses too many chances
Think people are being very unfair to Moore. The very same argument could be said for both Lindsay & Pinnock, neither were great last time out in the Championship yet people think this time round they'll storm it.
Just this + we seem to have recruited well out wide. Wilks had a lot of assists last season cutting in and crossing I could see him putting a fair few on Moore’s head. I’d be more than happy to start the season with Moore and Woodrow as our main 2 - we definitely need a 3rd choice back up tho if this was the case. Can’t see miller and adeboyeyo been good enough at present I’d be looking at loaning them out. We’d have cover as 4th choice striker with wilks/brown who can both play down the middle.
About Lindsay - he definitely looked very hit and miss. I certainly had my concerns about him going into this season. Pinnock on the other hand, I thought looked extremely accomplished, even in a struggling side.
I get all the comments on Moore not exactly pulling up trees during the last Championship season, but we now have a markedly different playing style, great team spirit, strength all over the pitch and more importantly a manager that seems to get the best out of players: unlike Moraise, who I am certain didn’t even know what he was doing let alone the players! I think Moore will thrive this time round given the right service, and I hope I am proved right, which will be a first for me.
