I take full responsibility for the last minute goal. Seconds earlier, I said to barnsley66 "I think both sides will settle for a 0-0"!
it was neat and tidy and I'm pleased Angus and Lindsay had 90Min together.I think they could form a good partnership. Im not enamoured by Mowatt playing wide and hope we don't have to shift people to less natural positions to accommodate others. Mallan looked ok vs Coventry and off the pace today. We didn't create much but generally for friendly against Premiership opposition we should be happy with it.
I thought Fryers gave a much better account of his capabilities today than Tuesday night and the back four had a better look & balance to it on the whole, in my opinion. Again, though, it was only a friendly.
Promising signs with some promising acquisitions who will grow game by game. Stand outs for me from Tuesday and today: Davies, Townsend, McCarthy, Lindsay, Moncur, Yids. The lads seem to be developing well. Positive brand of fast attacking football. Quick interplay. Some real talent out there. (Compared to udders dull east to west approach). Hecky and his team look like they're doing a cracking job.
Playing Mowatt and Mallan out wide isn't ideal at all. We only had 1 fit winger and we'd have looked better had Hedges and Isgrove been fit. Don't think there was anyone at all who didn't do themselves justice. Need a bit more penetration up front but the signing of a couple more strikers as well as the fact that we won't play teams as good as Huddersfield every week means that should be a problem resolved For me, Man of the Match was Hammill. Chased everything down despite being fouled time after time. Was superb imo
Agree with that red all over. Adam was deffo mom today. Work rate top notch. Totally committed to the club. What's happened to hedges?
Hamill put a great shift in and worked his socks off, Cant fault his workmate at all. He also got himself in some great positions and showed some top class skill, and good tackles. However the only thing for me is he just holds the ball that second or two too long. 3-4 occasions second half when i felt he had done the hard bit then proceeded to showboat that bit too long when a short 2m pass or cross would have opened them up a bit more. Im just being a bit picky but i think it was good to see a solid 90 mins from him.
Yeah he can be frustrating at times but he can also produce moments of quality, be it a superb cross or a goal, that will be vital for us, even if he's not playing at his best. It would be great if he could get back to his best for us this season, then we'd have good wide players along with Isgrove and Hedges plus one more hopefully
