A much bigger factor into why performances suffered was a lack of options.

Not having Isgrove & Hedges due to injuries & Barnes returning to Leicester was a massive problem.

We’re likely to improve because we’ve now got 4 strikers & 4 wingers & can make changes to impact a game

All true but my point that I have been banging on about is that even with the lack of options in strikers, wingers and playing 2 dcm hecky persisted in playing 442 and we have never looked like scoring or winning. Hecky should have tried something different but he didn't.

JLWBigLil: You are way misrepresenting what I have said here. Either that or I have not made myself clear. What I posted was in no way a criticism of Jose. It is a question mark - and only that - about that attitude of some of our newer recruits. As far as the new board goes, I have wondered about their intentions - but only wondered. Way too early to draw any conclusions.

In that case, then, I apologise.

He didn’t persist with 4-4-2, we’ve barely played it this season, played it a couple of times early on then I don’t think we’ve really played it until Moore signed

He's played 442 since early Jan and prior to that 442 duller brother 4141 as well as the villa debacle.
The problem has been playing wingers with no striker and 2 defensive midfielders, our best perfornces early doors with moncur and potts in front of williams. I've seen Bradshaw and ugbo, Bradshaw and Thiam, Bradshaw Moore none have worked and all in a 442.

You speak sense. Not sure the squad's too big - just a little BFC DNA lite. When we stay up Jose will have earned his pay, that's for sure. This has been the kind of season so far that lets you know who to move on at the earliest.

I couldn't believe he said what he said, for the same reason as you. But also because we played long ball all night against Burton and for the most part the boring long ball tactics worked so little that the crowd quite rightly got restless, from wanting to see the ball on the floor.

I listened to his interview on radio Sheffield on way to the game.

He said there would be changes to formation and tactics, but they would be implemented gradually so that the players aren't being asked to take on too much in one go.

    Sounds fair enough to me.
