would anyone be in favorite of playing two different 11's for both games. This would mean we have to use some of the younger players but would allow us to play fresh all the time. I remember Doncaster making a lot of changes a couple of years ago and it worked really well. Barnsley got burnt out playing leeds and we ended up losing that game.
I don't think we have the personnel to be too picky Phil. Especially in defence and attack. Perhaps some rotation in midfield, but with Bobby and Lewin back in the side, too many changes would be a big risk and these are not games for kids. I think Digby will become a very prominent player under Danny, but not this holding role everyone bangs on about. In the recent U21 cup game he showed how he can drive the team forward and take the game to the opposition, like Redfearn used to. That's what we desperately need.
Correct Digby can drive forward, shows is quaility for such a big guy. Just thought it might be a idea. Play two mixed squads maybe.
Don't apologise for talking football on a football forum Hemsy, some are talking politics, which I like but not today. As for resting players, Donny were forced into changes for that game for various reasons including loan players returning, As i remember we didn't have enough available players to make big changes.
The better youngsters are out on loan, RNL, Jennings, Clarke too? I know what you are saying, the Xmas rush of games can take it out of the squad, but we have to win games first and worry about the damage later. Rotation tends to happen anyway out of necessity, Mellis misses tomorrow but is back for Derby, for example.
Well if it bothered you why post about cricket and then apologise for it? Am I missing something here as I haven't been logged-on long and not read many posts.?
Two entirely different eleven's would be a tough ask for our squad, even if it is rather large. Our team has looked incohesive for a while now so I think we need to keep more or less the same eleven playing wherever possible. Apart from one or two positions the team sort of picks itself.
Red rag and bull and all that Not sure if they are all fit... but Butland Jones cranie Ramage Kennedy Perkins Etuhu Digby McCourt Clarke Pedersen Steele/ Dibble/ Loan Wiseman M’Voto Hassell Kennedy Dawson Fox Mellis O’brien Cywka O’Grady ----------------------- Would be easier if we got Mcnulty and RNL back. Don't think we can get Jennings back
Even attempting to form two starting 11s from what we have is tinkering beyond sense. I think Danny will be formulating a system and a first 11 and will adapt that around the opposition and injuries/suspensions. He'll also be looking to trim the squad, I think January could be quite brutal.
You've left out Nyatanga. McNulty has played his last game for the Reds, I reckon. C'OG not fit I don't think.
Play your best XI every game. Faffing only ever complicates. That's my philosophy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Definitely needs it, the amount of players sitting on their backsides picking up a few grand a week is ridiculous.
I think DW 's general philosophy will be a solid and consistent team, wherever possible. Digby may replace Mellis tomorrow? I'd be happy giving the lad a go in this central position, especially in DW's first game back in charge, where the atmosphere will be very forgiving.
